2k9 is ONLINE play smooth?

Hey guys

Quick question if a couple guys could test this for me. My dad and I were looking to get 2k9 for something to add to our collection of sports titles we can play again each other online.

APF
NCAA09
Fight Night
NHL 09
Now looking to add MLB 2k9

I for one am not going to use it much for franchise type of single play. I have the show for that. But for online play is where I am going to spend my time with 2k9, so if someone could test and make sure the online is smooth, would be very helpful.

I think this is a viable question that really needs answering.

Even with its gaffes, if online play is smooth it will certainly be one step above The Show. The Show's online experience is gut-wrenching.

Ya like pared, I wanna see the "Mass" response on online play. THEN if this patch has any good effects on the lag part of the game.

Online play will see less of these issues, such as CPU hack fest, poor pitching, etc. So as long like joe said, the CORE gameplay is good and the online play is smooth then I have myself a new baseball game. If not then yet another year of waiting.

Well and playing the show franchise :wink:

Played a game online against someone today. Exhibition game. Game is very smooth in pitching/batting/fielding. The only thing that was frequent when anything was hit infield either heading towards first or third base the frame rate would seem to drop also on foul balls. Found out from Tris(2k web dev) that this happens when it has to render the crowd at a certain angle. It's the sacrifice to have the game stay at 60FPS.

from my experience also the game is butter smooth besides that fps drop for those 3 or 4 secs. I have the game installed to HDD on 360.

I'll definitely be knocking out a few game tomorrow. I didn't play 2K8, but I keep reading that online was terrible. I can't imagine it being worse than the Show because I struggled to find decent games last year. We shall see..

I'll definitely be knocking out a few game tomorrow. I didn't play 2K8, but I keep reading that online was terrible. I can't imagine it being worse than the Show because I struggled to find decent games last year. We shall see..

I've been playing 2k8 quite a bit the last few months and have logged a few online matches.

Based on those few games, if 2k9 plays exactly like 2k8, with no improvement at all, it will still be a smoother online experience than TheShow08. I absolutely love TheShow....it's really the only reason I even own a PS3, but the online was an absolute chore.

2k9 vs TheShow09 online? I can't comment yet, as I don't have either one. Man, I can't wait!

It is much smoother this year than 2K8 was. I have only played one game online so far and it was good. I still had to swing a bit early (could've been because the other guy had a bad connection), but nowhere near as early as you had to swing in 2K8.

No lag whatsoever in pitching. Fielding seemed quite good for the most part. I only saw a couple times where it slowed down.

One drawback is there are no cutscenses when playing online, but personally I always skip those anyway.
