Re: Things you miss from 08
The "Manager Mode" is probably what I miss the most, although the ability to end a game when you have to get to work or pick up the kids and "sim to end" is a big missing feature, too.
Still not sure why they took those out.Comment

Re: Things you miss from 08
The problem I had with GM goal is sometimes they were just completely unrealistic.
Find a player who hit at least 35 HR and had 40 SB last year?
Great. Those are like 4 guys, all of which are untouchable.
Or find a guy with a 80+ power rating and 85+ speed?
That got on my nerves, even worse when I got fired because I didn't do those. It's a good idea in principle but was poorly executed.PSN: VoicesWrestling

Re: Things you miss from 08
I miss the stat overlay from the batting screen where you could see the stats, pitchcount, etc.. just by hitting the direction pad.Gaming hard since 1988
I have won like 25 Super Bowls in Madden so I am kinda a big deal.Comment

Re: Things you miss from 08
Honestly? I think 08 was underrated...I enjoyed swing stick 2.0 and with the correct sliders that were developed by the community, notably SFG's, the games I played were excellent offline. I also enjoyed in my franchise, playing games in A, AA, this was a good method on learning the controls of the game. I still play it; dare I say more than 09!Comment

Re: Things you miss from 08
I do like 2K9 but they removed some of the good ideas that 2K8 had. My top items:
#1 for me is the Lineup card you could get by press the Left Bumper and then view both teams lineups, open player cards, do subs, pinch hits, everything from that one screen.
#2 - Closely related to the above is the stats you could get for pitcher/batter pressing left-right on the D-pad. 2K9 makes it difficult to manage your team while on the field, I don't know why they tried to re-invent the 2K8 functionality and only did it 1/2 way.
#3 - Payoff Pitching - I liked the little minigame aspect to Payoff pitching, and it could help your pitcher get in the zone (or not) while on the mound that day.
#4 - Pitch gesture feedback. We use to get some feedback on how well / poorly we executed the pitches. Meatballs are gone (nice) but we don't really know when we execute well.
I like a lot of the new things in 2K9 but they took out some good stuff too. Maybe we will get some of it back next year.
It's still a fun game and I hope the patch cleans up the game and removes the frustrating issues that keep it from being really fun.Comment

Re: Things you miss from 08
I miss the following from 2K8 . . .
- Step Influence
- All of the sliders we had
- Double play variety and the ability to break up a dp
- Collision Detection was better last year
- I also miss the pitch feedback while batting (tells you if it was a ball or strike)
- I thought that some of last year's replay was better, especially on strikeouts where you saw the actual spin of the pitch from the dirt-cam
- infielders actually squared-up towards first base when making the throw over.
I'm sure there are many more things that 2K8 did right that should NOT have been removed from 2K9. Hope we get them back in 2K10!

Re: Things you miss from 08
ability to edit players stances & motions
ability to edit pitchers pitches
exhibition mode (being able to edit CPU roster)
Lineup card
pre-game shots and pans of the stadium
small details like realistic looking fielding gloves, baggy pants, etc
ability to play A and AA games
minor league stadiums
a bunch of franchise features
even though not great, the AI was better last year
overall gameplay
on the positives, the frame rate was fixed. I appreciate that.Comment
