    I Officially Hate Living Rosters

I spent a good two and a half to three hours changing about five hundred or so fake player's names to their real life counterpart once the second patch was released. All that hard work to get my franchise starrded, only to lose all but a select few that 2k decided to add on their own.

Now, I'm stuck in a fantasy draft franchise with all the prospects with their correct names with my first two starters injured and can't even restart if this injury **** gets out of hand.

I'm about to buy another Super Nintendo and play Ken Griffy baseball.

So why update your rosters? Use your edited roster file and start a franchise. Seems simple enough.

Would be an awesome thought if I didn't have autosave on.

When you update with autosave on, the latest rosters automatically overwrite your current roster.

It really doesn't matter. After the two games I played tonight, I've just given up on the game. I'm going to sell it tomorrow and go back to Call Of Duty 4 until Madden hits the shelves.

I thought there was a cap on how many players could be edited and that it was way under 500.

You could've duplicated your roster file since living rosters only saves over "Roster."

              This is what I did.

Just save your file as Roster1 or something and then you can always load it up since the living rosters only goes over the "Roster" file.

Its too late for that now. I'll have to sit down and do it all over again.

And yea, maybe it was less than five hundred but it was definitely at least 350.

lol...I don't understand. Is the gripe with the roster updates or autosave?

I mean, if you kept autosave on AND didn't back up your stuff knowing autosave overwrites, I don't see how your gripe could be with anyone other than yourself for not thinking...lol.

Sorry you lost your work though.

I suppose it really is my doing. I just remember in 2k8 that whenever there was a roster update you had to physically download the new roster set from Xbox Live Front Desk, which I was fine with.

I honestly don't see the purpose of "Living Rosters".

you know you can turn off living rosters in the features menu.

                        Yes. I know that.

I guess the lesson here is that I shouldn't have expected a user friendly game right out of the box. When firing up 2k9 for the first time, Living Rosters and autosave is set to on by default.

Because I didn't switch either of the two off and assumed whenever this neat little Living Rosters thing would update, I'd be asked to save over a specific roster file. I was wrong and lost hours upon hours of work.

I've since started over with renaming the fake players and am almost done.

You know you can make your own Roster file that will not get affected by LIVE ROSTER updates right?

LIVE ROSTERS dont automaticly save unless you choose to do so. Just make your own and save them as "MY ROSTERS".

How are living rosters and autosave features NOT user friendly out of the box? You don't have to check for rosters, you don't have to go download them, name them and save them and again load them up to use them. It's all just done for you. That's not user friendly? Autosave is the same concept. That is user friendly as well. The option to turn these features on and off is user friendly too. It seems a little unfair to say they didn't make the game user friendly out of the box.

I think the OP now realizes his original issue, isn't actually an issue at all. But he isn't ready to admit that yet, so let's cut him some slack in the meantime.
