Anybody hopeful about 2k10 or did everyone buy a PS3?

After years and years of playing 2k baseball until dawn, this all stopped around 2k5-6. It seemed like the game was devolving beginning then.

I got tired of year after year of the continued devolution, bought a PS3, and you know the rest.

However, I have friends who just bought Xbox 360s, but no PS3. Looks like if I want baseball with people I know in real life (living across country from them now though), it absolutely has to be 2k baseball.

Are things going to get better? I downloaded the 2k9 demo and was turned off instantly. It reminded me of 2k3-5 graphics in "HD" - which doesn't say much, with the added un-value of no button hitting (which was the preferred controller settings used when me and these several friends who are buying Xbox 360s played back in the day)

Does anyone that has been critical of 2k baseball in recent years at least have some proof that they are "trying" - even if that means you don't have any hope for the near future? I know they parted ways with the people responsible for the horrid years (I wish I could underperform at work and still be employed for 3 years!) so that's good.

I just really, really miss the days of Blue Shift (or was it Blue Castle) and "WOW! Entertainment". Those were the days. RIP WSB baseball.

Oh yeah, in the 2k9 demo, the commentary was fantastic. But then again I never understood the fuss over Morgan/Miller. What was annoying was Joe Buck in that Xbox exclusive "Inside Pitch" in 2003 I think. Who cares though, 2k3 had Rex Hudler (as does the MLB The Show currently) but it will still be the glory days of 2k baseball in my mind.

2k9 has button hitting, you just have to change the control settings to classic I think, i like this years game more then the last 2. and it was VC's first attempt, so next could be better? heard the guy that ran MVP is running 2k series now.

Hate to burst it for you, but that was the guy that parted ways with 2k like the very week 2k9 was released. He was on board for 2k6 until now.

2K9's zone hitting was maybe the most responsive and realistic ever in a baseball game, so I'm interested in that and seeing what improvements they make. But they absolutely have to fix the horrible fielding animations and the twitchy player movement, both of which have been in the series for years and make the game unbearably ugly. (And fix the bugs and glitches!) As for a PS3: no, not until SCEA develops a next-gen game engine that incorporates and adds things like real-time ball physics, collision detection and R-stick control. Until then I can play The Show on my PS2 -- it's the exact same game, minus the graphics.

I hope 2k10 is good, cause I don't think I can handle another year of manually updating 2k8's rosters.

They better bring back batting stance edits and all that other good stuff, or I won't buy it.

I really want to give 2K10 a good look. VC has a second go-around and they have impressed with other titles in the past. Plus I want to see how they improve on the real time atmosphere as well as the overall gameplay, which looked just like 2K9 in that regard.

I'm looking forward to it and possibly renting it this time, but with the community that SCEA built with OS it will be hard to beat in terms of what the hardcore baseball fans want.

I'd like to know what is up with VC and 2K Sports. 2K Sports is hanging by a thread, and that thread is called NBA 2K. I don't think that MLB 2K9 is awful, it just has too many issues that rob me of motivation to put it in. Most importantly, the game isn't selling well at all. The idea 2K had in grabbing the 3rd party exclusive is backfiring because of the success of a first party exclusive.

2K in general is in trouble. Outside of NBA 2K, their games are not selling, and the translates into less people working on games because the budgets are low, which in turn translates into pressed time and games that are rough around the edges.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

2k10 has the potential to be a very good game. However, since it seems the developers of this game are either embarrassed by it them self or just refuse to get feedback on it by interacting with the community, I'm not going to get my hopes up.

If they just fixed the fielding and all of the MANY little bugs (which they probably aren't even aware of because of what I mentioned before), along with adding a few new things to franchise, I would be more than willing to buy 2k10.

Oh yeah, gross. I forgot about that. In 2k4 or so, after fielding the ball and waiting for the gameplay to resume you could just make the game look like a complete joke by moving your fielder around. I think the term used to describe this was "herky jerky."

Yeah, jeeze...so is "The Bigs" any good then?

I'm going to pick up a PS3 slim before Christmas. I'll still give 2k10 a shot but I doubt it will be a real competitor to the show.

I don't have a ps3, nor am I planning on getting one soon. I'll be hoping 2k10 can be a good game, and I'll probably give it a rent if it's customizable, as in rosters/stances etc.

I actually liked 2K9 before a frozen Franchise Mode bug killed a franchise I spent countless hours renaming prospects on. I traded in the game the very same day and swore that I wouldn't put 60 dollars on 2K baseball again. I never thought I'd become a naysayer but this was my breaking point. The gameplay didn't frustrate me (I didn't pay attention to its faults all that much) but the franchise issue killed the game for me.

I am actually planning on investing in a PS3 Slim, partially because I'm interested in the exclusives on the console, including The Show and GT5. I'm not a hardcore baseball gamer by any means but this is probably the best option.

I'm in no way hopeful of 2K10 but who knows, maybe Visual Concepts can get their act together in a big way. But that's what we say every year, and look what happens!

I want to be, but who knows.

I just want them to not rush the game and actually give a **** about baseball. For 2K9 it seemed like they put all the players on the roster and slapped a Tim Lincecum cover on it.

I think VC will pull thru just because it'll be their 2nd year at the title..i cant really see them dropping the ball two years in a row honestly...

This is their last chance with alot of us though..i know alot of my friends i play baseball games with are giving VC one more year before giving up on the MLB2k series..and moving on to the PS3's The Show..i hate to buy a ps3 just for a baseball game but i just might do that if i cant get a decent baseball game..soon!
