Major League Baseball 2K10: Andrew Bailey Interview (ESPN)

ESPN's Jon Robinson has interviewed American League All-Star, Rookie of the Year, Andrew Bailey. As they talk about Major League Baseball 2K10, among other things.

Jon: "MLB 2K10 is all about trying to recreate the battle between pitchers and hitters. How do you think they've done in mimicking what goes down at the plate?"

Andrew: "The idea that it's all about the pitchers versus the hitters is awesome because there's that mental side to the game that fans don't always see. You get into the heads of the hitters in real life and you're able to do the same thing in the game by mixing up your pitches and keeping your opponent guessing.

I think the game can also be used as a great teaching tool for players in high school and little league because they can learn about the game of baseball and how to pitch. Kids aren't learning as much on the field anymore, but I think a lot of them are learning great pitching techniques online by playing these games. They learn you can bust someone in, bust someone in, bust someone in, then go away and make the batter look like a fool."

I'm mostly into the sports games on my Xbox 360, but I also have a Wii, so sometimes we'll still get together and do some bowling. It's funny to think about, but after we play a professional baseball game, we actually go home and play Wii bowling. A lot of us were big fans of "The Show" last year, so we'd play that all the time before we went to sleep.

For real? That's pretty cool. I haven't actually ever gotten to play it on the PS3, but I hear you do some mean rosters for the show. I'm just shocked he would mention it in an interview about 2k.

You smell that. Any way most of these devs are friends too. I hope they played the Show a lot, that way they will take some of the good ideas and run with it.

Wow, that's really cool. Let us know when you start getting calls from Albert Pujols and Joe Mauer

I'm an avid video game player, for sure. That's why it is so much fun to try and help out with "2K10" and have some input that might help it achieve some success. They are really trying to make this game as realistic as possible and it's cool to see how they do it from the ground up.
I'm gonna mark his work on this quote. Hopefully he put in some good input for how to make this game play like it should.

Agreed. Two games to pick from is great, and competition just makes everyone try harder (not implying they aren't giving their all, just that they will want to one up each other)

This is really random but true, Andrew Bailey is my 6th grade Math teacher's nephew.

Hey Knight, any chance any old retired players get a hold of you as well?

Lets wait for them to deliver before giving them much credit. 2k9 was an absolute mess of a game, and considering NHL2k10 wasn't all that much of an improvement AI wise, I have my doubts what only a second year under VC will produce. I will say one thing, if theres even a hint of fielders actually running INSIDE the green monster this year someone ought to get fired.

Yeah...2k has so much to prove after 2k9. I'm definitely holding out for reviews on this one...

last years purchase was one I immediately regretted.
