    The art of stealing...

You guys having much luck? I'm not. With fast players like Ichiro, Chone etc.. I lead off 3-4 times let go on first movement and am thrown out easily every time.

Is there anything else to do other than the 3-4 step lead, hold down the trigger and let go when the pitcher makes a move?

    Thanks.

My user profile says I am 11/9. I've been caught 3 times w/ Victorino and twice w/ Werth. I have a 3 SB game w/ Fred Lewis as well. 11/9 is after playing 1 month, and playing various games for the Pirates, Phillies, and Giants.

          Re: The art of stealing...

I can't steal for the life of me, but mine probably has to do with pitch speed being at 90. Honestly, I've gone to only trying to steal on pitchers who move their foot a tiny bit right before they are about to throw it.

I once had a 4 step lead with Ryan Theriot(82 speed) got a great jump off of Randy Wolf, he threw a 70 mph curve, and still got thrown out by Greg Zaun who has a 66 throwing strength.

So I think it might be possible if you have the pitch speed at default, but if you have it way up like me, good luck.

              Pitchers easy to steal on:

              1 John Lackey
              2. Felix Hernandez
              3. Yovanni Gallardo

For others , look at a replay of an attemted steal in slo-mo and you will see that 3 quarters of the way it seems that the runner changes stride ( as if the game is waiting for a user input and then the slide animation kicks in ) that is the cue for the slide timing which is cued very early this year. You should be able to steal with runners 87 + speed.

Are we suppose to manually slide? Because I have noticed the hiccup in their running when they are about to slide...

Quite interesting opinion. I set pitch speed at 95. never had a steal. If you're right, it means this steal system is totally broken. I am gonna test it with pitch speed at 10 or 20 later.

Stealing is way to hard in this game. I get thrown out all the time.

Theres no sliders to adjust CPU throw out success either, which stinks.

Yeah they removed some slider adjustments... I don't get that. Add more, don't take away (swing step influence for example).

Fausto Carmona is incredibly easy to steal off of, I can take third with a one step lead off him without a second thought. Also, when going into second I always try to make my guy slide head first because it seems to be much quicker.

I jacked Jose Reyes speed up to 99 and still can't steal a base, so I've given up on trying because I would end up running myself out of so many innings. That probably explains how my team is first in the league in hits and average and last in runs scored

I usually have a really hard time stealing but I just had a 3 steal game with Derek Jeter!! But Brett Gardner got thrown out in that game and hes faster... It's all about stealing on pitchers with long deliveries, and don't throw very hard.

What I do is get a 3 step lead then I lean closer to the TV and really focus on the pitchers first move. I hold down the LT with the tip of my finger so I can release it sooner too, but make sure you don't let your finger accidentally slip :P

yeah, gotta go head first i noticed too. there is an annoying glitch i've seen where I would have been safe but the runner slows down just as he's getting close...not all the time but it happened and really really made me angry.

I steal in my player with my guy who is 81 speed and 73 accel. on regular deliveries I'm probably 50/50...long ones I'm like 95%
