Will MLB 2k shock the world?

I've been thinking lately about the success of NBA 2k. With the looming agreement coming to an end what do you think the chances of MLB 2k11 shocking the world?

NBA 2k11 has recieved almost every sporting video game award this year. I think it's time to see MLB step up and show they still have a few tricks up their sleeves.

They were once the king of baseball video games and I think they may come out and shock everyone with a great game this year. Last years title was good but, a few things kept it from being great.

Is this the year 2k11 comes out of the dark and shows they still now how to make a great baseball sim?

I don't think it will shock the world...But I do hope the game does get put back on the map of baseball games....I will be able to comment more once we get to see what all they have added to the game and how many bugs that will be in the game this year,

They will get to shock us but it will take some time. In my opinion I've been noticing that 2K has been improving as the season's go by.. from 09-10 it improved a lot also, they can do the same with this year's title and the upcoming ones
Why did I move here? I guess it was the weather.

        injuries/errors added= me shocked

seriously tho....they CAN but I dont think it will be this iteration.
I think because the shock part would come through announcing something about the game.

Similar to the MJ 2k11 appearance.

I mean say 2k announced a few weeks ago that they hired so and so from the old MVP series last year and began work on an all new owner mode and set out to do what was done there as far as features and gameplay.
then brought in a legend or two or three to appear in certain modes.

oh and they also said that they would skip this years version to accomplish that.

        shocked.

but i'd be ok with it.

i dont know, maybe my thoughts today arent good ones.
        but they are mine

I don't think they'll shock the world. But I could see them shocking parts of the eastern seaboard and a few Rocky Mountain States.
It's on me. I shook his hand too hard. It was a hard ... kind of a slap-shake.

Wasn't MLB 2K10 supposed to have shocked the world ????? Didn't happen last year and I doubt it will this year too.

Actually I think everyone thought 2k7 was going to shock the world when Brinkman became the producer. I think everyone was expecting instant MVP.

As far as this year it sounds like it has a lot of promise addressing some key areas that were lacking.

Not Shocking, but I think they will show us they are back on track, if they can make the game with 50% of what NBA 2k was then I will be happy.

I hope so, some other game companies have made dramatic turnarounds:

Triple play eventually became the MVP series
NHL series hit rock bottom and came back
NBA Live came back after some miserable years and is still efforting to improve

so I would say there is hope...

Probably not, but I'm thinking it will be a good game (to me at least). I mean I very much enjoyed last years game, but the flaws ended up getting to me and I stopped playing it. If the fielding and pitching are improved like they are saying, I should have a hell of a time with the game. I just really hope they spent some time fixing up some of the franchise issues though, because I'd really be able to get some replayability out of the game then. I also don't think I'll be able to afford it when it's released, but if I somehow have around $70 at that time, I'll probably need an improved franchise to convince me to buy it (but once the summer hits I'll be working again so if I can't get it in march, it won't be the end of the world).

I'll be shocked if this game sells well... Consider me a disgruntled customer who will not be purchasing the game this year. From the flawed game to the arrogant mods at the 2k forums, I've had it with this series.

Plus, since my Indians will suck pretty hard this year it helped make my decision much easier...

Glad to see I'm not the only one who has noticed this.

But I am a little more optimistic than usual for this year's game, despite this title's disastrous track record. Or maybe it's just that my desperation for a halfway decent baseball game on the 360 is being ratcheted up.

No, no, no, I really don't think it will. Seems to me if you buy you're paying for a roster update and some other minor things, like maybe a feature added here, a slight boost in graphics there, things like that. I wasted $60 on MLB 2K10 and regretted it about a month after I got it. I got sick of it really quick but I kept it in case I wanted to play it again. I've played like 5 games since that point and now it has a very minimal trade-in value. I'm not going to spend anything on this game until it comes out and people say it's a big improvement.

I will say I was shocked at how much better 2K9 was than 2K8 - at least when I compared demos on the PS3. 2K8 looked like garbage on the PS3 and 2K9 was a huge improvement. I'm hoping for an improved 2K11.
