Pitch Accuracy?

What determines the accuracy of the pitch you throw? Is it completely ratings based? It seems like even when I use good pitchers like Chris Carpenter I never know where my pitches will end up. Does it have anything to do with the meter? My gestures are good, so maybe I just don't completely understand how to pitch in this game.

Re: Pitch Accuracy?

I dont think you're going to get alot of pitching advice so close to the million dollar challenge. Plenty of people here are happy to help you with batting questions though.

Ratings is the main determining factor. Each pitch has a movement, velocity, and control rating.

Also...the accuracy of your gesture is a huge modifier. If it is not accurate you will see your pitch missing its mark more often.

Lastly, must know the movement of your pitches, and how they break...with the variable K zone, this is even more dynamic.

Re: Pitch Accuracy?

The "pitch control" slider also plays a big part in accuracy.

Even with the best pitchers, it's hard to really pinpoint locations. As long as you know how much break the pitch has (which I think is determined by the power meter also) and decent-to-good form, you should get it pretty close.

I love that about this game. If you get too cute, it can hurt you.

Re: Pitch Accuracy?

When pitching, hold the left stick as steady as possible throughout the pitch gesture AND when the pitch is being thrown. This kind of acts like overall muscle memory. If you flinch just a little, the pitch can wind up somewhere else.

My advice: put the tip of your left thumb on the surface of the controller, and "pivot" the LS with your thumb knuckle to help hold it steady.

You can change the direction of a pitch during the gesture by moving the LS to a new location, but again, you have to hold it steady throughout the gesture, AND through the pitch animation.
