MLB2K12 Acquisition Thread

Thread title says it all. I have it for 360, and I don't have a Live account so I'll have to go to a friends' tomorrow and get the day-1 rosters/tuning/etc, so take that into account (Prince Fielder, for example, was still listed as a FA in the default rosters).

I did not get the demo (as I said, no Live) so some of the things I may marvel at as I type you may already know about. Anyway, feel free to ask me questions and I'll do my best to answer them as honestly and completely as possible. I know there is a lot of anger and/or suspicion about this game.

I suppose I should say that I am a Pirate fan, I played 2K11 and enjoyed it for the most part, and am getting back into baseball after a while (10 years or so) without watching it (watched a bunch last year).

If so, can you look at the Colorado Rockies jerseys and let me know what they have for them?

More specifically, can you let me know if the alternate is black vest-purple sleeves or black vest-black sleeves?

Ok, they've got the Home (white, pinstripes, "Rockies" in purple across the chest), Away (grey, "Colorado" across the chest) Alternate Home (this is one you're looking for, purple cap, Black uniform with purple sleeves and purple "Colorado" on the chest), Alternate Home 2 (purple uni with black "Colorado", black hat with purple brim), Alternate Road (same as above, but with the away pants) then 2 BP unis as well as 1994 home/away. So yeah!

Wow Thanks man. Im very suprised by Bard being an 87 going into his first mlb stint as a starter, as a setup guy i wuld understand that rating but ill take it. Also Beckett an 86 i figured he would drop even more since last year was very off for him. Thanks again for these tho.

Who's the Cubs 1st baseman and starting rotation?

As I said before, I don't have any "first day rosters" or anything updated (won't until tomorrow), so the from-the-box rosters have the lone 1B being Bryan LaHair (80 overall, 4/4 stars). They do, however, have three 3B - Blake DeWitt (73, 3/3), Jeff Baker (71, 3/3) and Ian Stewart )68, 2/4).

Starting rotation is as follows:

Garza (87)
Dempster (80)
Maholm (76)
Wells (75)
Volstad (75)

One thing I noticed about the bullpen was once you warmed a man up (and he was completely warmed up - at 100%), a notification appeared. Additionally, if you are warming up more than one pitcher at a time, and you chose to "sit down" a pitcher, you cannot (at least, from what I saw) warm that pitcher up again. That's kinda...weird?

I do like how smooth most everything is. I like how the pitching fluctuates and varies based on how you're doing with a certain pitch - I used AJ Burnett and even though I had a deep outing the opposition kept hitting my curveball, lowering the rating enough where it was almost unthrowable. That was really cool.

It plays like a baseball game, too. In last years edition I'd just power swing with everyone unless they were a contact hitter - this year, trying this, you can get weak liners, grounders, etc if you try and powerswing, say, a low-and-away pitch. The pitch and the location matter while hitting. This is excellent.

Where you're at in the count really matters too. From my few games I've played, hitting is a lot more realistic than in 2K11 - meaning, to me, it's harder. You can't just sit on the power swing with a mid-70s power level and drive one into the gap or to the track on an 0-2 count. You have to be selective. Maybe that was just me playing it "wrong" last year.

It plays like a baseball game, is what I can say so far. The base-running, fielding, the hits...liners, bloopers, grounders in the gap, etc actually happen, and happen with regularity (like they do in the MLB). Stroking a ball deep into the outfield isn't easy and regular (at least for me, perhaps it's because I'm using the Pirates lol) and a good, clean hit actually is a feat. Additionally, the outfield doesn't feel cramped. It feels like there's space out there. And the fly balls don't hang up there forever, like the moonshots that happened in 2K11.

Whoops, sorry. To be honest, this is the first thread I've started here and I rarely post (more of a luker, honestly).

Any names of mods I could PM? If there's a problem this could be taken down. I don't mean to break the rules, etc.
