Any way to use created teams in franchise?

I usually like to use create a team to do a faux-expansion franchise. The create a team mode looks halfway decent but I can't figure out how to use the team in a franchise. Anyone know if you can, and how?

Not an option in previous years, sounds like it isn't this year either.

Well I guess using Houston would basically be like an expansion team...
