Ummmm, no. The Athletics after winning today and us losing, are only 2.5 games behind us. Plus they are leading the Yankees in the Wild Card by 1.5 games. It is anything but over.

Its going to go down to the last week again when we travel to Oakland for a four game series. I just hope it doesnt .

Re: Official New York Yankees Bleacher Creatures Team Thread

This really irks me:

Groom Blasts Torre

Quote:
Continued Groom; "I didn't get a fair shake here. Every time I pitched in key situations here I did the job," Groom told the Post. "Then I became a mop-up guy and didn't get into any games. Guys come here and they don't get a chance unless they are one of the boys."

The Post fingered Tanyon Sturtze, Tom Gordon and Mariano Rivera as being "the boys."

Does he honestly think Sturtze became one of Torre's "boys" as soon as he got here? When we traded for Sturtze... Yanks fans assumed he was going to be a minor leaguer who would occassionally get called up to fill in for an injured reliever. Guess what? He pitched great... and he earned Torre's trust as a pitcher.

Following the Yankees for years... Torre has been notoriously known for having fallouts with pitchers who didn't feel like they were trusted by Torre. There was a whole chapter dedicated to this in The Last Night of the Yankee Dynasty by Buster Olney. Years later... the pitchers who had a problem with this finally realized that they had to earn Torre's trust to get the ball in big siutations. Groom wasn't good enough to earn Torre's trust.... and no one trusted him to come in to get a lefty out in a big at bat.

Good riddance Groom. So much for being a wise veteran.

Mr. Clutch comes through again!! Jeter's now 4-5 with a game tying RBI.

Even against the Angels bullpen which is by far the best in the league... we have the ability to come back.

And Giambi with another 2 HR day.

I love the Yankees.

Nice comeback. Hopefully Mo can keep it tied, and the middle of the lineup can win it in the bottom of the 9th.

E6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yankees tie the game.

They've practically given this game to us with 2 bad errors leading to runs. We HAVE to capitalize.

A-Rod has to win it here.

I don't think either team wants to win this game.
