Looking over Stanton's splits again I'm pretty disspointed they don't have his ERA split for RHB vs. LHB.

Only thing to help determine this, he'd given up

6 RBI's in 34 AB's for lefties
7 RBI's in 23 AB's for righties

He has given up 11 RBI's that are credited to him though, and the Robert's HR was the first HR he's allowed all year.

So....

I guess that despite his average against LHB was much better, LHB were still getting through to him one way or another.


Despite all of this, Stanton was gone after this season and he wasn't really gonna contribute much for the rest of this season, so I like the move of dumping him.

vs LH: 0.93
vs RH: 20.77

He's only allowed 1 ER vs LH batters. I'm guessing the RBI's you see are inherited runners. These can be misleading because it could come on sac-flys, fielders choice, etc.

Is Paul Quantrill really dead? I've watched pretty much no Yankee games this year so I don't know if it's a case of age/injury/or mechanics?

Quantril has had nothing ever since late last season. His fastball rarely excedes the 84-86 range, from what I've seen, and none of his secondary pitches have been sharp at all. That sharp breaking ball he used to have just isn't there for him and hasn't been for awhile. When he came on in relief in game 4 of the ALCS last year, I knew the game was over (there wasn't a doubt in my mind that he could get by Manny and Ortiz without allowing a run), thats how poor he had been down the stretch.

That is a sobering and truthful assessment on your part. It's pretty sad to see Quantrill's career end like this. He was one of the good guys for a long time for the Jays.
