This idea that Manny doesn't try/ doesn't care is tiring and old.

He's gotten more days off in the last month than anyone else (besides maybe Varitek, but he's a catcher), and why is he tired? Jogging down the first base line take a lot out of him? Manny's a great hitter, and I don't doubt his desire to win, but he's not exactly a model citizen and his act is what becomes tiring and old.

All of a sudden Red Sox first basemen are lighting it up. Two homers last night for Millar, two homers tonight for Olerud. I'd like to see some of the starters get straightened out though and at least limit the opposition to three runs or fewer. The Sox can't expect to keep slugging their way to victory every night. Papelbon just struck out the side in the 8th, hopefully Timlin can nail down the save.

Who died and made you John Olerud? The man friggin' rocks. We're not worthy.

7-4, Sox. 3.5 games up.

Yea Olerud is as clutch a hitter this side of Ortiz on the team as you'll find for the better part of the season. Just recently he got the pinch-hit game tying 8th inning single at the game I went to, and the 2 big homers tonigt.

I didn't feel very encouraged seeing Keith Foulke pitch last night. I noticed he changed his delivery a little bit; it's difficult to put into words though.

Nearly all of changeups seemed to stay high as they were before he took his injury hiatus. If he is forced to come inside to batters, I believe he is completely screwed, as they will crush the salad he's throwing. His velocity is still hovering around 87 MPH, very pedestrian. The one good thing I noticed was the command of his fastball. Those pitches didn't seem to be catching a lot of the plate like they were before. He showed the ability to paint the fastball on the outside corner. Still though, that changeup needs to bite a lot more than it did last night.

BTW, the Red Sox have no chance this year unless Foulke returns to merely 75% of what he was in 2004.

Definately one of my favorite things about this team, any given time we can crush the ball and mash out 4 or 5 or 6 runs in an inning. Lopez was dominating, all of a suden it's 5-0. I know you usually dont wanna get into a slugfest in the playoffs, but Chicago, Oakland, and Anahaim doesnt exactly strike fear into my heart facing their lineup. Our pitching may not be as good as last year, but if Schil and Foulke improve a bit and Wells and Clement pitch like they have been, our offense can and will pick up the slack against Danny Haren, Mark Buerhle, and Jarrod Washburn in my opinion.
