Good point Gbrush, I didn't really think of that(the passed balls) but I really wish Arroyo could stay a starter. The other problem with Wake in the pen is Tek would have to really learn how to catch him, cause you're not going to sub in Wake and Doug every game in the 6th or 7th.

I feel that with Schill coming back can disrupt the sox and their great streak. I feel that schill should wait to pitch after the all star break against new york.

The reason is that with the rotation doing great, the sox can change the rotation to begin the 2nd half of the season.

Schilling is scheduled to pitch July 10th, the day before the all-star break, so it shouldn't be too much of a disruption. Either way, a healthy Schill will be well worth the trouble.

Arroyo is just the odd man out. Its unfortunate for him because he's proven he's a capable starter but he can probably find success out of the pen. If someone in the roatation falters though and Arroyo is having success then they'll need to have a quick hook and put Arroyo back into the rotation. If Miller can't get it going consistently he could potentially be a lethal arm out of the pen, but as someone pointed out, its unclear how much his arm could handle.

While Gammons continues to say that the Sox have no interest in SF SP Jason Schmidt, some sources are saying the Sox are close to a deal.

What I have to say about this is, if the Sox do acquire Schmidt, it has to be for cheap. It's going to create more of a logjam in the rotation, even if a Schilling/Clement/Schmidt rotation would be very deadly in the playoffs. I don't think you can give up a lot for something that's not really needed, unless Theo thinks moving both Wake and Arroyo to the pen will strenghten it enough for the rest of the year.

My feeling on the Schmidt talks is they are just keeping communication open in case Schilling suffers a setback. While Schilling is talking and acting like he is back to 100%, that may not be the case. One thing Theo has excelled at since becoming the Red Sox GM, is keeping our options open.

I think if Schilling is healthy, Schmidt in the rotation is just too much, unless they plan on dealing Arroyo.

Manny just picked up his 10th Outfield Assist on a throw to 3rd. He leads the league and Red Sox OF'ers lead MLB as well.

Bellhorn hit a blast. Its homer central this weekend.
Manny has so many assists because people STILL give him no credit and think they can burn his arm. Trot Nixon is no Johnny Damon with the arm either.
