I'm not sure what to do with Schill....It's a odd situation to say the least.

He didn't have his fastball and his offspeed stuff was up, even though A-Rod hit a decent pitch out. Tough to bring him back against the heart of the Yanks order after all that time off, but he clearly doesn't have it yet. Hopefully it's not the injury that's holding him back, but some time on the mound rather.

I don't know, I think Sutcliffe(sp) made a fair point about Curt pushing off with his righ ankle (don't know if you were watching the ESPN telecast).

Re: Official Boston Red Sox 2005 Thread

Let's see...he hasn't pitched in almost 3 months, he's still not fully healed from the surgery(the doctor said 18 months...we're at 8[from the ESPN broadcast earlier]) and he's coming back against one of the top 5 most dangerous 1-2 combo's in baseball. I'd say we don't have to push the panic button yet.

Just got home and turned on NESN, but Sutcliffe knows his stuff. I think he's even better than Brantley when he analyzes pitchers. Whatever he said is worth considering.

Conversely, Rivera has found himself since he blew those saves against us...strikes out the side, awesome.

Without overreacting, if Schill doesn't work out over time, we may have to part ways with a prospect for more bullpen help and that would upset me. As I said, we'll give it time; Curt's comeback is a lot longer than one game.

I agree... its foolish to be labeling Schilling as a failure as a closer just yet. I think Sox fans were being too optmistic thinking that he'd floursih right away. He;s in a new role coming off a big injury and he needs time.

Allthough.... as happy as I am with our win, I'm even happier that Schilling's name is in the loss column.
