Now what? They aren't going to expect him to GIDP before the pitch so him bunting and them getting the out at home would've just been a wasted out instead of anything prodcutive such as a sac fly.
Like I said, it was a tough situation to be in. There wasn't a ton of speed on the basepaths really to begin with. The bunt would've had to have been absolutely perfect to get the run home, which is why I felt the best chance would've been to knock it down the first base line and hopefully the runner at third had the legs to get home.

Anything would've been better than hitting into a rally killing double play. Even striking out.

I watched the Sox this week on UPN, and Boras was interviewed. He went on and on about how good Damon is and how a lot of teams are going to be after him in the off-season. He said Damon has a chance to get 3000 hits. I'm sure Boras already has one of those 20 page player bios ready for Damon comparing him to some HoF player.

I expect Damon to re-up with the Sox.

Thanks for the update. I had a pretty good weekend myself. Went to the Sea Dogs game Saturday and the Red Sox game Sunday. I'll post some pictures for you guys when I get a chance.

I read on ben maller that the O's are closer to getting Burnett. The reason is that the O's are willing to take on Lowell's contract. I see the Sox trying to acquire Wagner and probably a lesser known starter.

Re: Official Boston Red Sox 2005 Thread

The Red Sox have been playing inexcsable baseball lately. Going 2-6 against the second and third place teams in the division is appauling. And losing three out of four at home is pretty bad too. They need to get this thing turned around, but I'm still not sold on this rotation as a playoff one. Nor do I think the top prospects should be dealt for a rental player.

Yup, Jayson Stark thinks AJ will be dealt within the next 24 hours to the O's. The only reason we'd still have a snowball's chance in hell is because they were looking for a starter to replace Burnett, and Hayden Penn is not ready whereas Bronson could step right in. But Lowell's contract is the moving piece, same with Jim Thome in a potential Wagner deal. With so few impact deals out there to be made, the sellers really have a big advantage this year.

Headed to Portland for tonight's game...better not rain.

What's the word on Schmidt? If he's still not back in his usual form, is their anyway we could get him cheap?
