If Beckett dominates today and Schill can do what he usually does in big games, we have a fighting chance. But if our starting pitching doesn't make a stand now, I'm not sure the youth in our bullpen can carry the load any longer. Hansen and Delcarmen aren't used to this workload, and even Papelbon has proven vulnerable. Course if you guys wouldn't mind imploding, that could help improve my outlook...

Re: The 2006 New York Yankees

Is there any evidence at all that Beckett will dominate?

Personally, I expect him to throw 80% fastballs that get knocked around the entire field as Yankee hitters will just wait on that pitch while laying off everything else he throws. Then after he gives up 8 ER in 4 IP, he will go to the postgame interview and talk about how he didn't execute his pitches well today. This will be followed up by people complaining about how Beckett is too imature and not a pitcher yet.

Then in 5 days, everybody will say Beckett's next start is a must win game.
Rinse. re-wash. Re-do the process again until the end of September.

I still think the Yanks will win 3 outta the 5 games. The Sox will step it up, they're too good of a team to lose 4 outta 5 at home.

Ponson DFA, Bruney was sent down, and the Yankees called up Jeff Karstens and Aaron Guiel.

Might be time to bump the thread where some Boston fans were saying they wouldn't miss him that much and would rather have Coco Crisp.
