Nice win, Randy was awesome.

Magic number down to 15.

Also tied in the loss with the Tigers.

Re: The 2006 New York Yankees

Phillip Hughes continues to dominate AA.

In game 1 of the playoffs he went 6 innings 1 run 5 hits with....13 K's! Only 85 pitches.

I know the plan is for him to start next year in AAA, but it's going to be tempting to put him in the rotation at the start of the year.

I remember hearing Cashman on the FAN in June and he said there was zero chance of Hughes being in the majors before 2008. We'll see if he sticks to his guns on that one though.

Re: The 2006 New York Yankees

BTW, when will Cano be eligible for the batting title?

MLB.com says a player must have a min of 3.1 plate appearances per game played. Cano has a 3.9 ratio.

He's missed 39 of 138 games this year.

It's 3.1 PA per his teams game, not his games.

Re: The 2006 New York Yankees

I read that if he plays most/all the remaining games, he should get there in the last week.

He's been great this year. They said a lot last year that he could win a batting title. Didn't think he'd compete for one this soon.

He'd need to average about 3.7 PA if he played every game the rest of the way. He needs 85 more.
