Tigers are struggling right now, but they still have tough pitching, and historically the Yankees haven't played that well in Comerica I think. Plus, last year the White Sox were struggling going into the playoffs, everybody wanted to play them, and then they dominated the playoffs, so it could happen. I'd probably rather play the Twins, since we always do well against them, but on the other hand Santana in a short series is always tough.

Torre said today that Randy Johnson will be making his game 3 start. Everyone cross your fingers.
I am so f'ing happy we are facing the Detroit Tigers as opposed to the Minnesota Twins...

Yankees in 3.

Re: The 2006 New York Yankees

For some reason I'm terrified about the Tigers.

This whole week I've been PRAYING the Twins overtake them so we can play them. But with that comes that feeling that we SHOULD beat them...and I feel like they might catch us by surprise.

LIke how the 2003 WS shouldve been ours easily with that crap lineup the Marlins threw out, the Tigers have no hitter that would scare me in a big spot. But I'm still terrified all of these guys are just going to turn it on at once and shock us.

Actualy, I'd probably feel this way no matter who we play so ignore me. Its been way too long since 2000.

Re: The 2006 New York Yankees

I'm probably over-confident going into the playoffs this year. I haven't felt this good about a Yankee team since 2001.

I think we win the DS 3-0 or 3-1 over Detroit.

Looks like the Yankees plan to pickup Sheffield's option and trade him.

I wonder what we can get for him?

WTF? We won't be able to get anything!

Who wants an OF who can't stay healthy and is pushing 40?!

A team who thinks they can win it all next season, by throwing in that last puzzle piece. Sheffield may be pushing 40, but he is still Gary Sheffield... we can get that team's prospects, because THAT team wants and needs to win in 2007. I'm expecting a top team to take him.

Re: The 2006 New York Yankees

Teams typically make those type of trades right before the trade deadline, not in the winter. His trade value would be much higher than then it is now.

Re: The 2006 New York Yankees

We'll see what happens. I know at least part of there thinking, if this is true, is to keep him away from Boston. I personally don't really care about that. I don't think a big bat is going to push the Sox ahead of us, and watching Sheffield try to play the Fenway right field would be pretty funny.

This could backfire if Sheffield flips out and scares teams off like he did last time there were trade rumors about him.
