Road to Respectability: The 2007 Kansas City Royals

I know that Royals fans are probably few and far between here at OS (or anywhere, for that matter), but I figured that the few who do claim our Boys in Blue need a spot to discuss the ups and downs of the upcoming season.

I'll be posting some preview-type stuff in the next few days, but for now here are some good resources for Royals info:

Royals.com
The Kansas City Star's Royals Report
Royals Authority (A great, frequently-updated Royals blog)
The Daily Lancer (A good, but not as frequently-updated blog)
Rob & Rany on the Royals (A blog by ESPN's Rob Neyer)

Let the discussion begin!

Re: Road to Respectability: The 2007 Kansas City Royals

The Spring Training season officially begins today! Royals vs. Angels in Tempe today at 2:05 CST.

Points of interest

Alex Gordon starts at 3B. The future is now, and barring injury or a complete meltdown, Gordon will be the starting third baseman on Opening Day. We'll see how he starts his exhibition season today.

Mark Teahen starts in Right. Having never played a position other than third base, Teahen will make his first start in the outfield. As long as he continues to hit like he did the second half of last year, the growing pains of learning a new position will be easy to take.

Brian Bannister takes the hill. Likely battling Zack Greinke for the fifth spot in the rotation, Bannister gets a chance to make a good first impression today. He and Joakim Soria will pitch two innings each.

That's too bad about Bannister... He's my boy in MLB 2K7... untouchable really. He's my ace by far for the Nats.
