Makes sense to me. So it looks like the opening roster will be:

Schilling
Wakefield
Beckett
Clement
Papelbon
Riske
Seanez
Tavarez
Foulke
Dinardo
Timlin

Bard
Varitek
Youkilis
Snow
Loretta
Cora
Gonzalez
Lowell
Ramirez
Crisp
Stern
Nixon
Pena
Ortiz

The team looks solid on paper. Lowell is the only starter who really scares me and the rotation goes as Schilling and Becket go (who aren't the most reliable guys right now). I can't wait for Monday.

Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006

Clemens and his agents met with Theo, Henry and Werner earlier today. They spent almost an hour behind closed doors. He also met with Schill, Beckett and many others. Clemens had dinner with Wake and Theo last night. Clemens said in interview that playing for the sox is a possibility. His kids are warming up to the idea and his wife cried tears of joy with the possibility of going back to boston.

Great start to the season.

Lowell hits a HR, Papi hits a HR, Schilling pitches lights out. Papelbon has a nice inning in relief, Foulke didn't look -too- bad. Crisp played very well.

Just an all-around good game.

Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006

Opening Day Observations:

- Schilling looked better today than he did all last year
- Foulke got roughed up, but will be effective once he starts hitting locations better
- Papelbon should be our closer regardless
- Ortiz is still getting better
- Our lineup is easily stronger top to bottom than last years version despite all the questions
- Crisp is quite a bit faster than Johnny Damon but needs to be more patient
