Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006

If Seanez throws a strike he has a better chance of getting an out than he does if he throws a ball. The best hitters are only successful about 30% of the time, so make a guy like Giambi put the damn thing in play by at least throwing a strike. If he gets a hit then he gets a hit, at least he earned it.

Wait a minute, I'm not suggesting he TRY to throw a ball... All I am saying is that he would be a fool to pitch him straight up in that situation. He's got to try to hit the corners as best he can, which you are right, he didn't. But damn, you saw Giambi crush Beckett last night, so did I. Last thing you want is 4 runs on the scoreboard. I'll take my chances with the corners...

If he gets a hit you'd be on here complaining about what a sucky pitcher he is.

Can't win.

Score another point for closer by committee. We lost a 1 run game in the late innings and our best reliever never got into the game.

Actually I probably wouldn't. Within this thread, I've probably been the Sox fan with the most patience for Rudy Seanez than anyone else. A tie game in the late innings though, you can't walk a guy with the bases loaded in that situation. He should get heat for that.

Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006

This loss felt like a shower scene from OZ.

But I've gotta say when I saw Schilling was pitching tomorrow. A smirk came across my face.

Big game for him tomorrow.

Anyone else find it pretty ironic that Pauly gave up something like 6 runs his first start and got the ND, but then gives up 2 in 7 innings against the Yanks and gets the L? Amazing.

You don't close a game you are losing by a run.
