Ugh...
And if the Yankees make the playoffs and Boston doesn't, Jeter would probably get my vote. If Minnesota gets in I think Mauer has a great shot at winning MVP.

This team... They make you think that they have a chance and then what do they do, they rip all our chances away. I swear they do it on purpose.

And the Red Sox are 1-3 on the road trip of DOOM, yes!

This is awful. If they can't take two out of three form the Royals I give up. And lets put a rest to the debate of whether or not you walk Ortiz in these situations because Manny hasn't come through all year in that spot. It's a no-brainer right now, you pitch to Manny. And Lester isn't going to have much success if he continues to throw more balls than strikes.

Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006

I missed the game last night - thankfully.

Pretty much left questioning why Crisp is leading off, it makes no sense. Complete bust of a player this year. But it's good that pretty much no new acquisitions decided to break from the mold (aside from Lowell).

It's truly amazing how they can be leading 3/4 of the year, and then find a way to f*ck it up without fail every single time.

I wouldn't call Crisp a bust yet. He does look lost in the batters box but he is a good player that had been improving all of his numbers every year. I think his injury just set him back this year and next year I'm looking forward to him being healthy and a good lead-off man.

I agree. Going a month without swinging a bat in April-May is enough to ruin anybody's season. I'd like to see him perform better now that he's been back a couple months, but I'm nowhere near ready to call him a bust.

Youk will be back in the leadoff spot tonight as I think Kapler is starting in CF, giving Coco the night off. Put Wily Mo in the 5 spot, for the love of god.

Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006

Right now reminds a lot of Nomar when he came back after his long injury in 2004. Even when he's on a little streak he still doesn't look comfortable at the plate. He's pretty much been what I expected since coming back, and that is very streaky to the point that he'll have 4 or 5 good games then 4 or 5 horrid games, there's no in between or consistency. I think at best we can hope he finds his stroke in September and it carries over into October (should the Red Sox get that far). I would expect a good bounce back year in 07 as he doesn't strike me as the Renteria type who just can't get comfortable in Boston. I just hope the front office doesn't get impatient and make a bad deal involving him after the season. I don't see Youk ever moving out of the lead-off spot, unless he develops above average power, but if Loretta isn't back next year Coco could fit nicely in the 2-hole.
