Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006

Seems everyone is overlooking the stellar performance by Beckett last night. He has finally turned the corner IMO. Last 30 days, 40IP 2.7ERA and only 2HR in his last 6 starts. That is damn good to see!

Yes it is. Hopefully he has every thing worked out now and can be our ace next year.

Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006

Did I really just watch Julian Tavarez pitch a 1 run complete game against the Blue Jays? I really don't know what to say, congrats to Julian I guess,

I hope some team out there thinks this isn't a fluke thing by Tavarez and is willing to trade something decent for him. Fluke or no fluke though, I have to tip my cap to the guy because he's done a hell of a job as a starter thus far.

At this point I wouldn't trade him.

With a fair amount of question marks over this rotation/bullpen going into next year (depending on what FA's are signed), he should be held over. (Yes I am shocked I am saying this)

He's pitched really, really well. And if he can keep this up he would be a great fifth starter.

Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006

The Sox would be stupid to open the season with Tavarez in the rotation. If someone wants to trade anything of value for him (and with a weak free agency for starters, and the mounting costs needed to acquire meadiocre ones, its possible someone comes looking), I'd do it in a heartbeat. Don't let one good month replace 5 terrible months.

Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006

Here's reason 459 why I am frequently embarrassed to be a Red Sox fan.

http://www.boston.com/sports/basebal...ng_the_li.html

Some freak called up Gordon Edes' home to apparently complain about his article re: Manny Ramirez a couple days ago. It's pretty sad that people care so much about Manny Ramirez to display that kind of emotion..

^That sucks. Especially considering Edes is one of the few guys in the Boston media who doesn't deserve to be spat on.

Also, I was a little surprised to see him write that article. I try to defend Manny but he's not making it easy on himself these days. I still don't know if the Red Sox could get equal value for him in a trade and plug that hole in the lineup. Clearly, this offense needs him.
