Sorry but it's over.

Ahh typical. I thought it was over a couple years ago. I will never doubt them until it's over. BTW the team in 1st is the Mets, the Mets. Not worried at all. Remember we are what only a month in.

Re: 2006 Atlanta Braves Discussion

Honestly, I think it is over.

Yeah, it's early. But these Braves aren't the same ones who caught the Giants in '93. And these Mets aren't the Phillies of 2001.

Having said that, I also thought it was over in 2004 and 2005 and obviously I was wrong then. Hopefully I'm wrong again.. a lot can happen in 5 months.

Gotta love it when the Mets fans get cocky after 14 years of being dominated.

Were the Mets dominated in '92 or '93 when the Braves were in the NL West?Or in 1994 when the Expos were in first and the season got cancelled? Try 11. 11 years of pretty much losing in the first round or to the Yankees, just like we did. Minus the astersik shortened season

You make it seem like the Mets are the Phillies. Point me to a season where the Mets had a division lead and choked. Face it, it's done.

Chipper speaks out

Quote:
"We just don't have the financial means to be able to address some of the needs that we have. It's just the nature of the beast. Time Warner has kind of, you know, when you've got a group of people who are just using the Braves as an investment, trying to make as much money off the team as they can and not putting anything back into the team, it's hard to operate like that. Ever since they've had the team, team salary has consistently gone down. It's killing them."

"We've got a lot of people down in that bullpen who are making the minimum and don't have the experience that bullpens like New York's has. That's where the glaring differences are."
He also seems to practically concede the division to the Mets:

Quote:
"They have a very good ball club. They're not just built to win the East; they're built for the long haul. They have all the attributes of a championship team — a great manager, a solid bullpen, good starting pitching, an everyday lineup that can throw up runs in a big way."

"The Mets are not going to fall through. They have too many good players. They've got great leadership. Willie is not going to let them fall through."
