The Mets have 11 years of losing the division every single year and 44 years of pretty much being the second best team in New York.

The Braves have won more division titles this decade (5) than the Mets ever have (4).

Dude, this happens every year, some guy on the Braves comes out and says how he thinks the Mets, Phillies, Marlins, etc. are a much better team this year, and you know who ends up winning the division? The Braves. Im not all that worried, it is only early May, if by mid-June the team is hanging around .500 and the Mets are still playing this way, then I might be worried. They play 162 games for a reason, not to see who the best team is in a month, which is the Mets right now, but who can play the most consistent for 6 months, and I think the Braves can do that. If Joey Devine would get his act together and become a consistent closer and some of the guys in the lineup (LaRoche, Francouer, etc.) catch fire, this team is very capable of taking another divison title.

Re: 2006 Atlanta Braves Discussion

I don't think the face of the franchise calls out ownership every year. And I know we don't fall 9 games back in May every year.

Maybe this isn't every year...

Re: 2006 Atlanta Braves Discussion

I wouldn't mind making the playoffs as the Wildcard team and winning the WS. I'd trade all 14 division titles for one more WS. If that's what it takes. Winning the division isn't everything you know. But I'd still like too.

Re: 2006 Atlanta Braves Discussion

3rd game of this Mets series about to start. Andruw's outta the lineup resting his sore back, Smoltz going on 3-days rest vs Limatime...

EDIT: 23-game hitting streak for Edgar.

Some breaks going our way today.

Now LoDuca's tossed.

And so is Bobby.

EDIT: Looks like LoDuca had a legit beef.

Cox has a legit argument. How can someone call timeout, when the ball is rolling away from LoDuca after he spiked it? Horse**** call by the umps.
