As long as he only loads the bases we'll all be fine with him. It's when he starts giving up the grand slams and looking like every other pitcher we have in the bullpen, outside of Ray, that we'll have a problem. If he gives up a run an outing he'll still be better than what we had before.

Tied at 2 after 5 in Philly.

Smoltz close to 100 pitches already, BS zone...

EDIT: Homerun Renteria, 3-2 Braves.

Dammit, Rollins goes deep in the 7th. Tie game.

Re: 2006 Atlanta Braves Discussion

Crap, Kenny Ray gives up the go-ahead run in the 8th. 4-3 Phils...

2-run single makes it 6-3.

2-run homer by Francoeur. Still down a run, though...

EDIT: That's the ballgame. Braves lose 6-5.

The only decent guy we have had in the 'pen gives up the go-ahead.

Too bad, we could've used this one.

Re: 2006 Atlanta Braves Discussion

No game today due to rain, it'll be made up in September.

Probably a good thing since both Chipper and Andruw were out of the lineup...

Quote:
Whereas Andruw's sore back could sideline him for just two or three days, Chipper is feeling the discomfort from a strained left oblique that obviously could have a longer-lasting effect.

"It's not good," said manager Bobby Cox in reference to Chipper, who felt the strain during his first at-bat of Friday night's loss to the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.

Chipper, who set a new career high by extending his hitting streak to 20 games in Friday's fourth inning, missed five games last year because of a strained left oblique. For now, his condition is listed as day to day, but it is obvious that there's some concern he could miss more than just a few days.
Quote:
As for Andruw, who missed one game during the 2004 season while dealing with similar discomfort, he planned to take a muscle relaxer on Saturday in hopes that it would allow him to return to the lineup for Sunday night's game.

"If it's OK, I might play," said Andruw, who leads the National League with 88 RBIs. "If it's not OK, I'm probably going to sit out. I don't want to go out there and mess my swing up. I feel good with my swing right now."
