Oh my God, Ravech just compared Andruw to Derek Jeter defensively.

Unless I missed something -- I turned if after Karl's monologue on Andruw and Jeter -- wasn't he saying that Druw and Jeter are alike because as all-around players you have to really see them play every night in order to get the true feel for them? I don't remember him saying anything specific about offense or defense.

Furcal makes the "Greatest Braves Web Gems" list and Andruw doesn't. Throw out any credibility for that list.

EDIT: Buster Olney (sp?) just said Andruw is the best CF ever to play the game. I agree.

Yeah, that was pretty funny.

edit: BGarrett may be right though.

Re: 2006 Atlanta Braves Discussion

I'll have to play it back, I thought he was referring to their defense.

EDIT: Here's the quote

"He is one of those guys, like Jeter in a sense, you have to watch every night to appreciate how great he is. He comes up with the great plays... he does everything right, doesn't he?"

Then Olney praised his defense, while some of his best catches played.

They were definitely talking about defense.

You almost have to put the Furcal play on the list though. I mean, there's only been 12 unassisted triples plays in Major League history.

The list is for greatest "Web Gems". There is no way Furcal's triple play is better than most of Andruw's catches. Furcal simply jumped and caught the ball then tagged a base and a runner. I remember the time Andruw jumped and caught a ball while planting his feet "Spiderman-like" into the wall. Then there are a million more from 'Druw. I don't care if Furcal's was part of MLB history, it wasn't worthy of being in the Top 3 of greatest Web Gems.

I get where your coming from. I too was hoping the Andruw play, where he plants his feet into the wall, would be on the list. I haven't seen that play in a while.
