Unfortunately I think we're stuck with Reitsma for now. I don't care how, Braves need to get a closer anyway they can.

Well, Devine's already up there (though he's struggled). We've got Anthony Lerew in AAA, he got a long look in spring training... Brad Baker's another guy.

Goddammit. WTF?!

Re: 2006 Atlanta Braves Discussion

Why didn't we just pay up in offseason and get a closer?

Why would they? Outside of the years Smoltz closed, during this run of Division Titles they've never really had a big time closer. Whether it's Alejandro Pena, Mike Remlinger, Brad Clontz, Kerry Ligtenburg, John Rocker or Danny Kolb, all were guys they either developed internally or got off the scrap heap. Why would they all of a sudden go out and acquire a big name closer? Not that one was even available.

Re: 2006 Atlanta Braves Discussion

Just got home from late lunch with my family to see a blown save and an injury to my favorite baseball player.

Just great.
