Re: 2006 Atlanta Braves Discussion

Let's sign him and then throw him in a deal along with Giles to San Diego in exchange for Peavy. How could San Diego turn that down?

No, I'm not being serious, but it would be nice.

Would be great.

C'mon Glavine, make up your mind!

"I would say right now it's a pretty solid 50-50," Glavine said in a phone interview.
Quote:
Glavine admitted the Mets own the "business" edge but the Braves have the advantage because his family is in Atlanta. The 40-year-old, who said the choice is "truly a difficult decision," said he doesn't figure he will make a choice before Thanksgiving.

"I guess my feeling is I want to make a decision as quickly as I can," he said. "Obviously, I certainly have an interest in going back to the Mets and I certainly have an interest in exploring what's going on here in Atlanta, but I really can't do much on that end until after the 20th, when by all assumptions, the Mets are going to decline my option, which I expect them to and then go from there. But I certainly don't plan on dragging anything out longer than I need to or want to."

Today, I think he's coming back... though I seem to go back and forth, tomorrow I'll probably feel differently.

Who would we get in return? I just don't see a possible trade with either team. We need SP in return. Unless you guys want Millwood back...........

The name rumored from the Rangers was Akinori Otsuka.

From the O's, Olney speculated that young starters Adam Loewen or Hayden Penn could be involved, but I wonder if maybe we might get our 2nd baseman and leadoff hitter from the O's... Brian Roberts?

That's of course assuming that Giles is eventually traded. I don't know, maybe he'd even be included in a possible deal with Baltimore.

Also, an industry source confirmed an ESPN report that the Orioles and Braves have had trade discussions involving Atlanta right-hander Tim Hudson.

The source said the Orioles bristled at dealing left-handed starter Adam Loewen but discussed a package of prospects that included right-hander Hayden Penn.
