Re: 2006 Atlanta Braves Discussion

Ouch. Maybe Duncan can get something out of him.

Oh, speaking of crappy fromer Braves closers, it's possible the Braves will non-tender Chris Reitsma next week and try to bring him back on a lesser deal...

Braves may also non-tender Marcus Giles, as apparently there's virtually NO interest in him. Weird.

And there's nothing on the trade front today. Looks like the Braves are probably finished at the Winter Meetings.

It's probably just an attempt at increasing interest for Giles. Still though, if it doesn't work and he is non-tendered, we'd get screwed.

I didn't really expect there to be much of a market for Giles after last season.

Why would rumors of non-tendering increase interest? If anything, that is going to absolutely kill any and all interest left. Why give up something for a player now that is essentially going to be released very soon?

I guess some teams might think they have a better chance of getting him by trading for him than maybe outbidding somebody for him? If you do not have as many financial resources as some teams (Boston might need a 2b) then you might be more willing to trade than wait?

Well apparently we're hot on the chase for Baldelli as well...

Salty, Escobar, and a young SP like Davies or James seems like an awful lot to give up for him IMO...interesting though. I'd rather have Carl Crawford but I wouldn't be disappointed if we could get Rocco either.

Yep, I'm not real wild about it, but it seems Schuerholz has zeroed in on Baldelli.

He's a good player though, with a pretty reasonable contract. If we can do it without giving up James it might not be so bad...

Re: 2006 Atlanta Braves Discussion

Rocco is very good and can lead off, but I want Crawford. I'll trade anyone on our team for Crawford, ANYONE. Well maybe not BMAC.
