As would I, not because of the thought of losing Chipper, but because we'd be forced into an entire season with Wilson F'n Betemit as our starting 3B.

Betemit can be good if given the chance. Still I would seriously cry also if they got rid of Chipper. He is the franchise imo.

As a role player, yes, he can be perfectly fine. As an everyday player? Not so much.

You'd be hard pressed to find any team to give you a closer and cash for Chipper.

Besides like everyone has said... It won't happen. He's like the Jeter of the Braves.

Just wondering, why don't you think Betemit can be a good starter?

He's destined to just be a roleplayer. Why? He couldn't even make "the leap" while in the minors, what makes you think he would be able to do it at the major league level, with last year being only the second time in his career he's played over 100 games at any level? The Braves would be best served using him in the DeRosa/Green role where he spells the other infielders but is never routinely relied upon to be in the lineup everyday. His bat just isn't consistent enough to pencil in everday, and he surely doesn't have the power that a corner infielder needs to possess.

Fair enough. I really was just curious as to why you thought he wouldn't be a good fit as a starter.

By the way, for those who don't know, we'll be wearing the '66 throwbacks for tonight's game.
