The Indians have taken huge strides in dispelling the myth that Dolan doesn't want to spend money with this spending spree their on. We now have CC, Victor, Pronk, Peralta all signed for at least 2 more years, with Sizemore and Lee both in discussions for long term deals as well.

Shapiro has done a great job over these 4 seasons in bringing in great young talent, while weathering intense fanbase backlash for not overspending on big free agents names. We now have a solid core of young guys who can grow together, and a fully loaded farm system. Even Brandon Phillips is starting to look like the prospect he's been billed as, currently hitting around .350. Garko, Duboise, and Marte are also looking good this spring.

Things are definitely looking up for the tribe.

Re: The 2006 Indians Thread

so it's finally ok to post in our own thread again? We were so superstitious the last few years I wasn't sure if we should ever post again... but Hell I'm happy we finally have our team thread back... Of course I'll do most of the box scores after every game but I want this thread to be big time close to Red Sox/Yankees size if possible. So anyways this is our year guys! We can do this! LETS GO TRIBE!!!!!!!!!

Re: The 2006 Indians Thread

The Indians are shaping up nicely this spring. Einar Diaz seems to have locked up the backup Catcher job, Jason Dubois, Lou Merloni and Brandon Phillips are really fighting it out for the final spot on the bench and Danny Graves (2.57 ERA) may have pitched his way into the Indians bullpen.

The biggest question for the Indians is who other than Travis Hafner is going to supply some big power?. Casey Blake and Aaron Boone have had good springs and are both capable of 20-25 HR's, but both are slated for the bottem of the order. Maybe Peralta or Victor Martinez can supply power around Hafner in the middle of the lineup, scoring runs was a big problem for this team last season, especially early in the season.

The pitching seems solid, it will be interesting to see if Cliff Lee can match or top what he did last year. Jason Johnson has looked very good this spring. I mentioned Graves has pitched well, with Graves and Mota the Indians should have two good setup men in front of Bob Wickman this year.
