Re: 2006 Philadelphia Phillies Thread

Ha!
This guy was a genius just two weeks ago.
It's a long season and every team is going to have it's ups and downs.
Last nights umpiring was horrendous...for BOTH teams.
Lieber should shut his mouth and stop worrying about the umps and and worry about his pitching and make it look like he at least WANTS to try and work an at-bat. His second at bat against Soler looked like he did not even want to be in the park. I know a pitcher is not paid to bat...but come on.

Genius?
Obviously you haven't been following this thread. The team was playing great, but it was hardly because of great coaching.

You did Skerik...and so did Sully and the rest of Philadelphia....somewhere in the back of your mind...you thought ..." maybe this guy is a genius and he turned this club around" admit it ...nah...I did not mean specifically when I posted that...it's just that during that hot streak I read and heard all sorts of crap and I was chuckling and thinking what I was going to read when the Phillies crashed back to earth.
It's hard to guage what Phillies fans think of the team from here in N.Y. I did not know that he was hated so much. So that's why the stadium is never full even when you guys are riding high, huh?

Re: 2006 Philadelphia Phillies Thread

We're talking about Charlie Manuel...the same guy that put our most feared hitter 6th in the lineup for the first month of the season...with David Bell batting behind him...

He's been crucified since his hiring, and it won't stop until he's gone. We wanted Leyland, you know, the guy that has Detroit playing great baseball right now...

It's only May. As bad as Lieberthal is, he's a better option than Fasano and Ruiz. Victorino has played well, but we need Rowand back. He's more of a threat in the lineup, and it gives us Victorino's great bat off the bench.

Citizen's Bank Park - relatively brand new

Shea - a old hulking piece of garbage

plus - putting this series midweek will hurt crowds...

this will be a great fight to the finish... ps - just remember 20 years ago, the Phils finished 2nd too... 20 + games back
