Wow, Thorman just hit one over the pool in right-center.

13-0 in the 7th.

This is just an *** whooping. Too bad this couldn't be us topping off a sweep and instead it's us winning our first game of the series.

The Braves just can't catch a break, Mets win whenever the Braves win.

Re: 2007 Atlanta Braves Discussion

OK guys! Something is up with a possible trade. The Braves used every available regular in this game except for Salty. I mean every position player had at least one AB except for Salty. They even pinch hit Moylan instead of Salty in the top of the ninth.

Listen to what Joe Simpson & Chip Caray has said about this & it would lead you to believe that some kind of deal is around the corner. I myself been following baseball for years & years & also believe that this is a sign of something agreed to behind the scenes. Now, this could also mean that Salty is just being kept just in case of an injury to McCann but it's not the likely scenario. Anyhow, it's about time to break out of this hitting funk to score some major runs. Thanks!

Re: 2007 Atlanta Braves Discussion

Day game blow-out after 2 straight extra-inning games, and Salty still can't get into the game.

Yeah, as Ken Harrelson would say, "He gone!"...

Ballgame, Braves win 14-0.

Re: 2007 Atlanta Braves Discussion

Quote:
The Atlanta Braves remain interested in Teixeira, but there are some health issues with Matt Harrison, the Double-A left-handed pitcher that would be part of the return package. Harrison has a strained shoulder and has been shut down. A Major League source said that does not kill the potential Braves deal, but complicates it.
http://texas.rangers.mlb.com/news/ar...=.jsp&c_id=tex

Jayson Stark of ESPN (Insider) had a recent update saying the "hunch" is still that Tex will end up in Atlanta. According to him, Salty and Andrus would be the 2 definites going to Texas, with possibly a different pitcher than Harrison, or a "pitcher to be named later". Stark also quoted an executive supposedly close to Schuerholz, whose "gut feeling" is that Schuerholz won't allow it to drag on possibly beyond midday Monday.

And here's an AJC story with some comments from Schuerholz: Link

EDIT: And from O'Brien's blog:

Quote:
Braves and others are just waiting for young Jon Daniels to make a decision. Rangers brass is meeting tonight, but no announcement expected before tomorrow.

There are several variations of the Braves proposal, by the way, so donít be surprised if a deal gets done and itís not necessary Salty-Harrison-Andrus, and it could even become a 4-for-2 thing in order to get a reliever.

But it WILL include Salty, that much is certain.

Deal for Tex done per Rosenthal and O'Brien.

Rumored to be Salty, Elvis, and 2 young pitchers.

Two pitchers also? And only Teixiera & no Mahay or CJ Wilson? This is giving up a little too much IMO if we can't get a pitcher along with Teixiera. We need a lefty out of the bullpen in a bad way really. I'm just worried that we may be giving up too much just for Teixiera.

If we can have a long term contract extension for Tex then this would make things better because we have no player in the minors capable of filling his void if he's not guaranteed to stay past the rest of this year. We need to do what Houston did with Wiggington & sign him to a contract extension. They locked him up for 3 years after he came over in the trade. We need something like that with Tex if the deal is really wrapped up. Thanks!
