Now i know Francoeur had a much better 2nd half of the season but 18hrs and 64rbi after the break, damn. Hopefully he can put together a good full season.

Re: 2007 Atlanta Braves Discussion

No go para Dos Cinco: Before Thursday's Grapefruit League finale, Andruw Jones asked Cox if he could play at least one inning at shortstop.

"It's a free-agent year, I don't think I should," Cox playfully responded to his Gold Glove center fielder, who is in the final year of his contract.

"[Forget] free agency," Jones said. "It's just a word; it don't mean anything."

This caused Cox to chuckle and say, "That's what I say. We're on the same page, Andruw."

All of this happened while Jones was wearing the batting practice jersey that Cox didn't want him to wear. It's the one that has "Dos Cinco," which is Spanish for his jersey No. 25. He got the idea from Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson, who had a jersey that said "Ocho Cinco" above his No. 85.

Re: 2007 Atlanta Braves Discussion

Braves placed Willy Aybar, Mike Hampton and Tanyon Sturtze on the 15-day DL. Kyle Davies, Peter Moylan and Martin Prado were optioned to AAA, several others who really didn't have a chance of making the team were also re-assigned.

So the Opening Day roster looks like this:

Pitchers
Lance Cormier
Mike Gonzalez
Tim Hudson
Chuck James
Macay McBride
Chad Paronto
Mark Redman
John Smoltz
Rafael Soriano
Oscar Villarreal
Bob Wickman
Tyler Yates

Catchers
Brian McCann
Brayan Pena

Infielders
Kelly Johnson
Chipper Jones
Pete Orr
Edgar Renteria
Scott Thorman
Craig Wilson
Chris Woodward

Outfielders
Matt Diaz
Jeff Francoeur
Andruw Jones
Ryan Langerhans

Re: 2007 Atlanta Braves Discussion

I was actually impressed with Willie the little bit of him I saw in Spring Training. Seems like a perfect guy to have coming off the bench, good glove, can play anywhere, got some wheels... hopefully we see him at some point. I really don't think there's anything that Woodward or Orr can do that he can't.

Braves baseball is back! Kelly Johnson starts off the year with a strike out.

Re: 2007 Atlanta Braves Discussion

Glad this is a 'Braves broadcast'... I thought with them transitioning to full-MLB this fall (and no Skip & Pete) it might be a more neutral telecast.

Smoltz starts with consecutive K's.
