The Diamondbacks beat the Mets, we're back in a tie for first.

Yeah I have to agree with Brandon on this one. Chipper's hands went through but not the bat.

It was clear on the replay that he didn't go. Bad call but hurts less since we won.

Re: 2007 Atlanta Braves Discussion

Chipper goes off on the umps:

Quote:
"The second Bobby stepped out of the dugout, [Davidson] was gunning to throw him out," Jones said. "Bob Davidson feels like the thousands of people in the park come to see him. He's always been like that. It's a joke among the players."
Quote:
Replays showed his checked-swing call was close and could've gone either way.

"That wasn't what I was upset about," Jones said. "When Bobby came out of the dugout, [Davidson] was just waiting to throw him out before he even heard what he said. It's a shame the cameras have to put [Davidson] on TV for 30 seconds."

Jones didn't confine his critical umpiring review to Davidson. He said home-plate umpire Sam Holbrook missed a call when catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia reached back to tag Andy LaRoche on the helmet in the fifth inning.

LaRoche was called safe on the slide to tie the score at 1-all.

"How do you miss that?" Jones said. "How does a professional umpire miss that?"
Interestingly, this is not the first time Davidson has ejected Chipper and Bobby from the same game, happened once before in '96.

Re: 2007 Atlanta Braves Discussion

I agree on both counts. It did seem like Bobby was given the boot way too early. I mean he just walked onto the field and he was gone. Then you saw Chipper start throwing some words towards Davidson and he was gone as well. The check swing was close but I thought he didn't go, the Salty play was stupid, he was out clearly.

Great win today. We've only lost one series this year. Back in a tie for first.

Re: 2007 Atlanta Braves Discussion

Rather lackluster performance tonight, James didn't make it out of the 4th and the offense only managed 3 hits in the game...

Anthony Lerew's coming up from AAA to start tomorrow.
