Re: 2007 Atlanta Braves Discussion

Huddy comes out in the 8th with some type of injury, looked to be pointing to his neck or shoulder. Did not seem to be affecting him too much, hopefully Bobby was just being extra-careful...

Oh man, disaster in the 9th.

2 runs already to tie it, and 2nd & 3rd with 1 out...

Infield in, I hate that.

EDIT: Ballgame.

Re: 2007 Atlanta Braves Discussion

We can't do anything right! This is getting ridiculous. I'm wishing for Soriano to start saving games instead of Wickman. I know Wickman had converted 11 straight but Soriano is basically untouchable right now. We need clutch pitching in the situation like last night so Soriano is the perfect fit. Wickman is totally hitable but Soriano has that dominate stuff so let's give him the closer role. I'm surely glad that the Mets have been losing too or we'd be in bigger trouble already. Thanks guys!

Hopefully Carlyle can somehow get a win tonight and Smoltz can comeback strong tomorrow can make sure to at least get the series win.

As much as some of us want to see Wickman lose his role as closer it just isn't going to happen. He has earned that role over the course of his career and Bobby Cox isn't going to strip him of it anytime soon. I know Wickman doesn't close out games as pretty or as dominant as most other closers in baseball but he gets the job done more often than not and that is all that really matters when you need 3 outs in the 9th inning.

And on cue, Soriano gives up the HR tonight, and Wickman gets the save after the Braves' offense bails Soriano out in the 9th.
