Minor yes. Beachy has to show he's back. Medlen, only if it's pretty cheap.

Yeah, Beachy has to show he's back. I think he'll be fine but I can definitely understand caution in his situation.

Would suck to not extend Medlen though. Have a soft spot for him.

Re: 2014 Atlanta Braves

I can't say anything bad about locking the best closer in the game up for the next few years, but I am concerned any time 10% of the team's annual payroll (actual percentages varying based on it being backloaded) is committed to one player who only appears in 60-70 innings.

Love the Simmons signing. If his bat continues to develop this is going to save the team a ton of money in the long run.

Getting big extensions for Julio, Andy, Freddie and Kimbrel has made this the most exciting offseason that I can think of as an Atlanta sports fan. It may not change how good the team is this year, but it brings a lot of confidence that this team is going to compete at a high level for the next several years.

I think Minor as well, maybe not until next off season. They have already had his arbitration case. Minor over Medlen IMO...

I have a soft spot for Medlen as well…have ever since 2009. Kid is a bulldog and probably my favorite pitcher to watch on our team right now. Hope he gets a chance to redeem himself in the postseason.

MLB did just sign new national tv deals with ESPN, FOX, and TBS. It was estimated that each team would receive roughly $25 million more than they did with the previous deals.

Liberty Media isn't obligated to put any of that extra revenue into the payroll, but given the back loaded nature of these extensions, it wouldn't be crazy to assume that some combination of TV money(The Braves also worked out a deal recently to move an additional 45 games to SS and FSS.) and expected earnings from the new stadium could lead to a nice little bump in team payroll.

2 more years of Uggla or is this it? Shocked at how poorly he has performed.

From the times I have seen him and BJ they look no different than last year…I didn't think it was possible for them to be as bad, but it's looking like a lot of the same.
