Small sample size, but 112 strikeouts in 11 games is unacceptable. The approach at the plate for everyone but the middle of the order needs to be looked at. I don't are if you tell everyone but JD, Bautista, EE, and maybe Tulo to sit on the fastball.

Yeah the strikeouts are definitely something to be looked at. I think everyone outside of the main guys have to start being aggressive with the fastball. Doing that might actually get them going.

Bit of a rough outing for Dickey again. This year his knuckle ball is amazing but it's impossible to harness. Oh well....

It's just a bad time right now with half the team in a ridiculous batting slump. We're just going to have to wait it out. Guys like Tulo, Martin and Pillar aren't this bad.

Looks like Pillar is better suited as a bottom of the lineup bat as he did pretty well today. I really think losing Revere exposed the same issue we had for most of 2015 without a true leadoff hitter. We'll see how Saunders does if this is a long term experiment.

Sanchez is showing he's got dominant stuff early on though and that's encouraging. I can imagine Stroman and Sanchez being a really tough 1-2 combo in the next few years.

Indeed SPTO. I think Pillar's biggest issue is that he just doesn't walk enough. He's gonna be fine offensively but he doesn't get on base as much for someone who leads off

Agreed. He is a Major League hitter at this point, but he has to be slotted right. He's a nice bottom of the order, and that's just fine.

So Pillar got his first walk today. Did anyone have April 18 in the pool? Does it count since he is no longer hitting leadoff?

I am actually pretty happy at 7-7 considering how terrible the hitting has been. The hitting will come around.
