Re: 2019 Atlanta Braves

Not quite the sexy move we were probably hoping for, but it was probably the smart move. We get to hold on to the 2nd round pick we would have lost by signing Pollock, and I'm just going to guess that there weren't any legitimate trade options out there.

With the relatively cheap signing, this should still leave a surplus of funds to attack pitching. Now it's time to add a legitimate arm.

I think personally bringing Nick back was the best option. We know what we're getting & he's a true clubhouse guy. Like the move to put him back in a Braves uniform & we didn't have to make a trade to get rid of any prospects to get an OF'er.

Re: 2019 Atlanta Braves

The ESPN article on Markakis says Snitker is thinking about this lineup:

1. Inciarte
2. Donaldson
3. Freeman
4. Acuna
5. Markakis
6. Albies
7. Swanson
8. Flowers/McCann

Acuna did so well in the leadoff spot, I’m not a fan of moving him down.

Re: 2019 Atlanta Braves

It would be interesting to see his rationale for that one.

Not sure why you wouldn't want acuna hitting in front of Freddie. I want him getting more at bat's and I also want to take advantage of his speed when Freddie or whoever is behind him hits a double.

Re: 2019 Atlanta Braves

Ya, with Markakis signing I was thinking something more like this:

Acuna
Markakis
Freeman
Donaldson
McCann
Albies
Swanson
Inciarte

I think Markakis would be a good #2 hitter, get on base ahead of Freddie, not be bothered if Acuna wants to swipe a bag, etc.

Re: 2019 Atlanta Braves

I like SF's lineup a lot better than Snit's. Markakis seems like an ideal #2 hitter to me.

Acuna did so well in the leadoff spot, I’m not a fan of moving him down.
Acuna has already stated that he'd prefer batting lead-off again so why would we mess up something that worked last season? The only reason I can think of is moving Acuna down would give him more chances to knock in runs(RBI's). I still would keep him in the #1 spot unless we need to mix things up if our hitting wasn't going well. Otherwise, keep him at the top of the lineup.
