The Official New York Mets Thread

Where are all my Mets fans at?

Let's get some chatter going, How you liking the roster this year? Are you comfortable with Shreve or Claudio being the lefty out of the pen?

Recent news the Mets sent two of our future stars Baty and Alvarez down to minor camp as we get closer to opening day.

Neither of those lefties inspire much confidence in me, but relievers are so year to year that you never know who will come out of nowhere and have a big year like Loup did last year. Overall I like the roster, I’m just really concerned when I look at the team long term because they’re REALLY old. Hopefully Conforto signs soon and we end up with another comp pick

That is for sure oine concern is long term it is old. But we will start weeding that out soon. Cano in his last two years, Scherzer has only 3 years. McCann will eventually be replaced by Alvarez. Escobar by Baty. What we lack is a ton of depth in the minors at SP when it comes to prospects.

What will be interesting is after this year all 4 starters not named Scherzer will be free agents. Now I expect them to resign deGrom based on his desire to be here. The other 3 are out wonder who will fill those spots.

So glad we have Megill and Peterson for Debt. Every time I watch Carrasco pitch, I feel like his time has come and gone.

Re: The Official New York Mets Thread

Off Season Free Agent Moves I'm thinking they should do during Off Season;

  • Edwin Diaz: Sugar wants to be paid the highest and it may take 4-5 years at a record closer price. Sign him
  • Jacob deGrom: Don't want to go where this will go. Let him go and use that cash for bigger things.
  • Chris Bassitt: Guy is too methodical but I do love him. Pitch clock is going to mess with his head. Let him go
  • Taijuan Walker: May take 5 years. Not really wanting to go there. Let him go
  • Carlos Carrasco: Has a club option for $14M. Pick it up
  • Brandon Nimmo: Love the guy but he's not the star that Boras will make him to be. He will make him rich with someone else. Let him go.
  • Daniel Vogelbach: He's still a power threat with a good eye. Pick up the $1M option.
  • Adam Ottavino & Seth Lugo They're welcomed back as long as the price is reasonable.

Re: The Official New York Mets Thread

I’d let deGrom walk too, I’d be fine giving him a blank check if you could count on him to make 30 starts but he’s just not that durable. It will suck to see him go but you can’t be paying the kind of money he’ll want to someone with durability issues. I’d pick up Bassitt’s mutual option and if he picks it up too I’d welcome him back because you can count on him to eat innings and we need that, but I wouldn’t make a long term offer. This will be an interesting off season because the team isn’t set up for long term success, especially on the pitching side

The New York Mets 2023 Schedule

17 of the first 23 on the road including a 10 game western road trip with interleague games at Oakland.

Could a season start off any tougher?

It could be slow start for the Amazin's this year.

If I am not mistaken the Mets rarely do well on west coast trips of any sort going back decades.

The Braves must have been in the schedule room this year or something.
