    CPU Roster Control

I was planning on starting my franchise later on tonight and wanted to know exactly what turning CPU Roster Control on does. I searched the forum but couldn't find any info on this directly, as im sure people talk about but its probably buried in a thread.

I know with CPU Roster Control ON, the CPU will not change the rotation or lineups, but will it make any call ups or send downs?

I'm assuming it basically leaves the rosters untouched and any moves have to be down by u, the user, but i was just wondering. I think it would be cool if some kid in AA or AAA was ripping or pitching well that they would bring him up.

You have to do it all. AI won't touch anything, trades, injuries, callups, etc.

      Re: CPU Roster Control

Now just to get this right, if i put CPU roster control to off, then the CPU will jumble up the lineups, rotations and players. itll basically call up the best 25 men, whether or not they are injured.

      Correct?

Well, I don't know if it calls up the best 25 men or not as I play with it ON, so I control everything, but whatever it does is out of your hands. It will injure players, promote/demote, etc.

Thanks Jim, btw I've been talkin to Knight about your rosters, as he was handling the Marlins. You guys are amazing.

I have been using your set as a base, and starting working on it on Saturday. I've done reaction edits, stolen base number edits, and updated the lineups. I also did some AA and AAA marlins pitcher edits, and I'm still not done. I don't know how you guys are doing it. 5 days working with a great base set and I'm still not done.

              Re: CPU Roster Control

Look at it as everything you do for your team, lineups, rotation, callups/send downs, and DL and other roster moves, you have to do for all franchises.

I would prefer to let the CPU handle other franchises, but the lineups have ended up pretty jumbled. So I have Roster Control on.

Yep, all it takes is the CPU to do one callup/send down and it can mess up all the lineups for that team. Maybe the roster coming out will help address some of that when attributes are tweaked.

                  Re: CPU Roster Control

This is very frustrating. I want to try to keep rosters as accurate as I can, but I don't think I want to be bothered with dealing with every teams issues.

Correct me if Im wrong but as long as you have 2 controllers you can manipulate the CPU's lineups even if you dont have Roster Control set to on, correct?

I still cant make up my mind, I dont want to see ridiculous trades happen constantly but I also dont want to have to take care of every teams transactions and whatnot. Let me know if the above is true or not, that will probably make my decision easier if I can still get their lineups correct without having to use the roster control option, or atleast their lineups are correct when playing me that is.

Yes, for games that you play against other teams you can use the two controller option. You can set the CPU lineups for that particular game. However, the messed up lineups for that team will revert back after you finish playing that team.

Sounds good to me, maybe its the whole out of sight out of mind thing but as long as it doesnt effect the stats in a negative way then I dont see the major drawback to it. Thanks for answering my question Jim, much appreciated.

                          Re: CPU Roster Control

True you can fix it for the games you play, so that is some consolation. The problem is that moving up or down a few spots in a batting order can affect individual stats. At the very least # of plate appearances, AB/Walks.

I was watching an O's game and Jim Palmer was talking about leadoff spot and about Adam Jones batting 8th at the moment and being a potential leadoff hitter if Roberts gets traded etc...
He mentioned that each spots works out to about 20 at bats over the course of a season.

                            Re: CPU Roster Control

I'm playing with Roster Control on and I went through a few teams to make a couple of changes, (ie. BJ Ryan to the closer role, Frank Thomas to the A's) and when I stopped in to a few other teams, they were completely screwed up. For example:

                            Jimmy Rollins was batting 7th
                            Lance Berkman was batting 6th
                            David Wright batting 2nd

And so on... why would this occur with CPU Roster ON? I thought the point of the roster control was the user having full control over the CPU's rosters.

You need to visit the FIXES AND WORKAROUND thread. Two years ago this glitch did not exist in the game. Last year it was there. This year the glitch is STILL there.

You must make all roster moves (except for your own team)through the PLAYER MOVEMENT rather than CALL UPS/SEND DOWNS. Sucks, but the workaround is quick when you get used to it.
