Question on creating players for future drafts

I am about to start my franchise with Knight's rosters (I tried waiting for V2 but I can't help myself now lol). I really want to create me buddies and I in the game and put ourselves into the 2011 amateur draft. Is this possible in the game? If not, I will create us and add us to Knight's rosters but I was really hoping I would be able to create prospects and put us into the draft (similar to NCAA/Madden Football).

Can someone just if this is possible and when during my franchise I'd be given the opportunity to create and insert prospects into the draft (so I don't skip over it accidentally).

Unfortunately, not possible.
You can start a franchise and you will get more editable players on the FA list...or you can overwrite someone already on a team.

Thanks Knight. Yeah maybe I will just put us as FA's and see what happens. That really sucks that they wouldn't let you create draft prospects. At least I have something to ask for in the show 11

Just be aware...
Pre-patch....the CPU teams signed FA's off the FA list if they needed them.
Post-patch....this has been disabled for whatever reason.

I don't believe this is correct, as I have seen quite a few players signed from free agency in my franchise. No big names so far, but a ton of lower caliber players have been signed near the end of May.

So I started up a Franchise with Knight's V1 roster. I go to "Manage Rosters" and want to put my players in as FA's. However, the Free Agent list isn't available under manage rosters, only players that are already on teams. How do I edit players that are currently FA's in my Franchise?

post patch you will only see free agents signed by cpu if you have budgets off.

Are you sure? I can't remember if my franchise is budgets on or off. I thought I had it on, but maybe I started with it off to counter the 3rd or 4th year stars not signed glitch. I will have to check. Is there a way to check this out from inside the Franchise?

Yes....offer a free agent more money than showing available....it should go through if budgets are off.

I am a little confused. So just pick any free agent and offer him the max? I am not sure if that would work for me, as the A's have such a tiny payroll that even if we have budgets I am certainly well below them. Oh wait, so if I have budgets off and go into free agents, money available should not show up right? Is that what you are saying? I am not at home and will have to check this out later tonight.

I have had MANY players picked up off FA in my franchise. i have seen teams release players to sign others. not top players but players to put in the minors.
as i get closer to the ASG i see it a lot more. and i have the budgets on.

I checked last night and I also have budgets on and have seen at least two dozen players picked up from free agency. I believe they have all been fake players so far, as I don't recognize any of the names, but they are indeed picking up players from the pool. A few teams have also purchased contracts of players, thus putting players on the 40 man roster that previously were not.

I was under the impression that the patch had somehow disabled this.

Maybe they disabled the high dollar players? Or is that even possible? I remember last year's game, no one was signed from the FA pool the first season. I am glad that players are getting picked up this year, but so far they have all been fake players in my franchise through May. Maybe more will go later in the year around the deadline.
