If we break the effort into 2 rosters like 1950-1979 and 1980-2010, obviously more teams could be included.

1954 Cleveland Indians
2001 Seattle Mariners
1927 New York Yankees
1970 Baltimore Orioles
1975 Cincinnati Reds
1986 New York Mets (1969 if the 86 season gets done)
1998 Atlanta Braves
1984 Detroit Tigers (1968 if 84 season gets done)
1963 Los Angeles Dodgers (preference - Koufax/Drysdale)
1975 Cincinnati Reds
1962 San Francisco Giants (Mays/McCovey/Marichal)
2001 Arizona Diamondbacks
2004 Boston Red Sox (1967 is personal preference)
1984 Chicago Cubs (1969 is a personal preference)
2005 Chicago WS (1965 is a personal preference)
2009 Colorado Rockies
1997 Florida Marlins
1998 Houston Astros (1980 is personal preference)
1977 KC Royals
2002 Anaheim Angels
1982 Milwaukee Brewers
1965 Minn Twins
1988 Oakland A's (1973 is personal preference)
1977 Phil Phillies (1964 is personal preference)
1991 Pits Pirates (1971 is personal preference)
1998 San Diego Padres
2001 Seattle Mariners
1967 St Louis Cardinals
2008 Tampa Rays
2010 Texas Rangers
1992 Toronto Bluejays
1979 Montreal Expos (for Nationals)

That is a good list of teams there, Looking at it, we probably, like Joey said, make a Pre 1970 list and a post 1970 list, which one to do first we can decide or vote on it. Everyone keeps mentioning 1984 as the season roster, would everyone like to do that one first then?

Re: Classic Rosters!!!

Just my opinion but I know it will not happen. 1969-1979 or 1970-1980.

Re: Classic Rosters!!!

This best of is great and I really think we should go with this idea. It will appeal to a much broader audience then say a single classic season aka 1986, since alot of games may not even not even have been born yet. I like the idea of a pre 1970 and post 1970 best ofs. The current list looks pretty good. Maybe if everyone agrees we can roll with that one to start.

Re: Classic Rosters!!!

The beauty of the Player Vault is, once we complete one of these roster sets, we could take a lot of the players and use them to create other sets that are wanted. So for gtm, if we do a Best Of, we'd have a number of players already created to complete a set like you are looking for. It really opens up a lot of options.

Re: Classic Rosters!!!

Just like Joey said, I figure if we do a best of, and then in turn do a season, these can then be used as a base set to do more seasons and more best of. Also I do think there is a big audience out there for the historical seasons as well.

Re: Classic Rosters!!!

Ok, you guys can count me in.

I really like Joey's idea of doing the separate best of rosters, but I would like to see us take it one step further. Maybe do a 1920-1950 roster, 1950-1970 and 1970-present. I'm really up for anything though.

Re: Classic Rosters!!!

If it gets broken down by "era", we may want to consider:

1900 - 1919 - Deadball era
1920 - 1945 - Rebirth era
1946 - 1960 - Golden Years era
1961 - 1979 - Baseball Boom era
1980 - present

If too granular, I would suggest:

1900 - 1945 (pre-war)
1946 - 1979 (Golden/Boom era)
1980 - 2010

Re: Classic Rosters!!!

I don't know. It all sounds good, but I still say we start out on a much smaller scale so we can guage the committment of everyone. If we start out too large I'm afraid we'll have some that gets a little overwhelmed and drops out.
