Operation Sports Full Minors 2011 - Recruiting

Well fellas...it's nearing that time again.
Most of you probably know now...that with the advent of the player vault....something Kolbe put in just for we roster guys.....it's now possible for MULTIPLE sources to work on one roster all at once.
We plan to make use of this to put out the same quality O.S.F.M. roster, but utilizing even more help from the community....in much less time.
In the past...I've always expressed how much I appreciate how much time and effort you guys have always given us with info...pics...opinions...everything that makes the Full Minors what I consider a REAL community roster(one of the reasons I don't tag it with MY name...it wouldn't be right...)
Now...this year we'll be able to take it a step further...with you guys actually doing some/most/all of the editing of the team/players you've studied...researched so much of.
    It will break down into:
    -General info(name....position...ht..wt...etc)
    -Ratings(attributes)
    -Faces(self explanatory)
    -Equipment
    -Stances/motions(minor league players)
You can do any or all or any combo of the above. The only thing I ask...is...that you allow me for some alterations of ratings if I think needs be. I will have to test out the game engine...as some changes have been made. I kind of know already...but...test...test..test
Once we start lining up editors...I'll go into more depth for rating a player in regards to level...years away from possible MLB call....potential...etc. if you plan on doing ratings.
If nobody wants to do ratings...just the fact that everything else is done is HUGE.
Love editing faces?....just offer that. Want to just lay out a franchise with general info?...fine.
We will lay out exactly....ahead of time....the potentials for every teams...A/B and C prospects. On this...no variations unless we decide ahead of time.

I'll update this page as I get offers.

    Dear Knight,

    Thank you for your message.

I would like to help with the Detroit minor league players.

I have already worked out CAPS (which I can send to you now if you wish) and possible potential ratings for the position players. I did not include any players who previously played in the Majors and which I expect SCEA to create. In this regard please see my message on the last page of the Roster Maker's Resource Thread where I list my proposed position players with potential ratings. There are actually listed more players than are needed, but this gives some flexibility since until after Spring Training we will not know exactly how the minor league teams will shake out. I did not include Danry Vasquez because, while he is considered a C prospect by John Sickels, he is only 16 or 17 and is not yet playing in the USA.

While I am willing to also help with the Detroit minor league pitchers, if someone else would like to do the pitchers I would be fine with that.

Of course I am agreeable to any changes you would propose in regard to the CAPS and the potential ratings as it is important that the minor league players are comparable from team to team.

    Thanks,

    Karle

I would love to work on the Indians farm teams. Only thing I won't be able to do is the faces. I am terrible at that. I can do everything else though.

Not to be to picky, and clog up the thread, but shouldn't it be OSFM 2011?

So excited to see this beginning. I'd be willing to help with the Yankees minor leaguers. I can do general info, and also contribute toward ratings. For some of them I could also probably do stances and motions.

In case any other Pirates fans read this and feel we don't need help, I'm planning on helping with general info, equipment, and stances/motions (when possible on the last two). I know tree3five is big on stances/motions, so I'm hoping he has some input on those as well.

As for ratings, Knight, if you can give me numbers in a spreadsheet or something like that, I'd be happy to put them in. I'm reluctant to do them on my own in fear of biting off more than I can chew and I also worry about my ratings not being in line with Knight's system.

I will not be doing any face building... leave that to the artists among us.

PS - Knight, I'd love to get in on the discussion of who will be included and their potential for the Bucs. Obviously with the knowledge you guys have final say, but as someone who spends way more time than should following the team, I think have worthwhile input to offer. PM me if you'd like.

For the Rockies, I can help with general info, equipment, and stances/motions. I'd also like to bounce ideas around about potentials if needed. I'm horrible at creating faces so that will have to be up to someone else.

                  As for ratings.....

Re: Operation Sports Full Minors 2011 - Recruiting

Hey Knight and Co. I RARELY ever post on the boards but let me be the first to say thank you so much. It is like christmas day every year when the full minors roster comes out.

Anyway, I just wanted to address something I noticed with last year's game. I am not trying to step on anyone's toes or anything just making a suggestion and you can take it or leave it.

Last year I noticed how in the full minors roster that some highly regarded prospects would only have B potential simply because they are in an organization that is loaded with highly regarded prospects. Conversely an organization that has very little high end prospects would have some A's that were probably more deserving of B's simply because when the game first comes out the show most likely is dispersing the fake minor league players with A's evenly amongst all teams.

A good way to fix this would be to see how many A's you are working with from the beginning and then disperse them accurately to each organization by trading away some of the A's from organizations with very few high end prospects to organizations with several. If this was done last year to some extent I apologize. I typically used Keith Law's top 100 as a reference and it is possible that you all were using baseball america or some other site. Again, not trying to under score any of the work you guys do as it is GREATLY appreciated just making a suggestion if it hasn't already been made.

Thanks again guys for all the great work and I can't wait for the roster!!!

you know I am in Knight!

I will do whatever you need for the Buccos. I would not want to do ratings, because I may over rate, lol. And faces I am not good at.

I will be happy to create all the necessary players with Name, Audio name, Number, Skin color, Position, Age, Where they were born, Throwing/Batting hand, Ht/Wt, just let me know what potential. Also I can do stances/deliveries and accessories.

I think (and I may be wrong) that if everyone did a team this way and let you do Attributes and Faces (you are the best) if would be a more fluid roster.

Qb is the man with the buccos, I look forward to working with him on the Bucs

This is going to be great Knight cant wait, thanks

With the new player vault we are no longer forced by the potentials of the fake players when creating minor league players. Once it is decided how many As, Bs etc there will be and who they are then the players will all be created according to that scheme.

Like Karle said, the new player vault feature should resolve this issue. In past years, Knight & Co's hands were tied when it came to assigning potentials. Now they'll be able to better represent talent distribution by limiting the number of A prospects and assigning them as they see fit across organizations. HUGE improvement!

Since it sounds like we're aiming to do the same stuff, it would make sense to split up the work. We'll decide how to break it up once Knight gives us the info.

Knight, sign me up tentatively for the Padres. It seems like we've got other people doing the other NL West teams, but if no one steps up for the Dodgers or the Diamondbacks, I wouldn't mind doing those teams as well.

If something comes up before the game comes out that would get in the way of my contributions, I'll let you know.
