    Classic team sets

By July 1st I hope to have 30 classic teams uploaded to the vault. I've already uploaded:

    1937 Yankees

The second championship team of the 4 in a row that closed out the 30's for the Yankees. A full 25 man roster that includes a young Joe Dimaggio and Lou Gehrig in his last dominant year.

    1946 Red Sox

Welcome the Red Sox back from the War and enjoy a 25 man roster that includes Ted Williams, Rudy York, Dom Dimaggio and Tex Hughson.

Tonight I'll upload 2 more teams and as I go I'll update this thread.

    Thanks

I assume you are adding these to the same roster set? For example, if I DL your latest it would have both the Yankees AND Red Sox team on it? I'll definitely give it a look!

You did a great job. You must be sports history buff. Wish I had the time and patience to do this. Look forward to more sets.

Thanks. I was going to release two more teams but I think I'll wait until I have a few more completed before I put the next update on the vault. Basically what I'm trying to do is have a no DH league with some of the best TEAMS that ever played. I am putting the teams with modern day prospects and when I'm done I'm going to add the teams 10 best home grown players during the ten year period after the team. (hope that makes sense)

For example the 37 Yankees will have Babe Dahlgram, Charlie Keller, and Phil Rizzuto etc as prospects in the system as well as the modern day prospects. I'm doing my best to not have duplicate players. So far the teams I have done are

          37 Yankees
          46 Red Sox
          48 Indians
          59 White Sox
          70 O's
30 Philadelphia A's (we have the ballpark)
53 Giants (We have the right ballpark too)
          86 Mets
          55 Dodgers
          92 Blue Jays
          57 Braves

Full 25 man rosters, with 10 prospects that came up with the respective teams over a ten year period, and modern day prospects. Hopefully this will be done by July 1st. A Royals team (not sure which and conflicts with duplicate players always play a part) and a Tigers team will be finished by tonight.

              Re: Classic team sets

I grew up in KC loving the Royals. The 1980 team was better than the champion '85 team. The 1977 team was better than both the '80 and '85 teams.

                  Re: Classic team sets

Just a quick update. I'm just about done with the 25 man rosters for the American League.

I'm starting the NL in about an hour. I am going to have the 1984 Tigers in the set.

I'm also going to have the 85 Royals but when I'm done with everything I'll add the missing players from the 80 team to the class A roster. The thing is I'm not going to have any duplicate players so you might have to add some guys to your roster yourself. I'll let you know where you can find everybody though. I hope that makes some sense.

I'm thinking of adding some random free agents after the first set is complete. What i'd like to do is just hit the random button on Baseball Reference and as long as the player isn't from the deadball era or a duplicate I'll add him to the free agent list. I hope this makes some sense, english isn't my first language!

                  Cheers!

Great news about the no duplicates.

                      Re: Classic team sets

I put another demo in the vault. New teams added:

                      93 Blue Jays
                      70 O's
                      65 Twins
                      85 Royals
                      59 White Sox
                      48 Indians
                      30 Philadelphia A's
                      82 Angels
                      95 Mariners

This set also includes the 37 Yankees and 46 Red Sox.

Just for fun I added the 94 Expos. I realized today I'm going to have one duplicate player and that's Jack Morris (damn him..lol) Anyway, the full rosters will be up in about a week and half and then I'll add the prospects and free agents so by July you should be able to run a full franchise that starts with the classic teams.

                      Have fun!

These are awesome! Do you have a full list of the teams you are using or are they a surprise?

                          03 Marlins
I'm keeping Texas as is. They are two time defending AL champions, I'd be hard pressed to find a better or more interesting Texas team. I'll add some Rangers legends to the class A team when working on prospects..etc...At least in their prospect form. When I add the prospects they will be rated as such so Phil Rizzuto (for example) will be as he was as a rookie...etc....

Any changes I'll update this thread....

What a great roster. Can't wait for the rest of the set especially the 55 Dodgers. One of my favorite teams of all time. Thanks so much for all your hard work. These historical rosters just make this game so much more fun.
