Every Single Player Rating in Excel

    Hi everyone,

My goal is to carry over my online franchise from one year to the next, even though it is not going to be offered by SCEA. In order to do this, I will need to enter every single player rating into a spreadsheet. Come the offseason, I will take another look at the ratings and edit the spreadsheet as necessary.

I will then edit the OSFM roster file to reflect all changes, and carry it into the following season.

The initial setup will be most time consuming -- but it only takes about 30-40 seconds per player to enter their details onto this chart. New, drafted players will need to manually added later.

I think having a spreadsheet like this would come in handy for everyone, as it could be used for easier scouting, player evaluation, trades, drafts, etc. The 'filter' tool will come in especially handy as you look for players meeting several criteria.

Have a look at what I've done so far -- it's just a start --- but it's an open Google document and anyone is free to help.
For now, I will just be inputting the SCEA roster players, but when OSFM comes out, I will start adding them in as well.

Of course, if all this information is easily accessible elsewhere , please point that out to me and save me a ton of work. (Like maybe a way to export a roster file to excel?)

    This is a GREAT idea.
I do something similar but with stats...
But that would be specific to MY franchise.
This would be helpful for ALL.

      Are those columns sortable?
That's going to be key for guys to search for specific things.
I know the original creator can sort them....but what about others?

      Thanks.

        Good Question --
I can't access Google Docs from my work computer so I can't test that

However, I believe one could just export this file into Excel and play with it there.

I'll have to test this theory tonight.

From what I'm reading online, Google may have taken away the ability for users to do a direct export to Excel. So, when the entire file is complete I will manually carry the info over to Excel and set up the file to allow filters, sorting, etc.

Then I will post it in this thread.

Great to hear. I opened up the doc for free access. I'm going to get on tonight and create a tab for each team. I haven't started on pitchers yet but for on the hitters portion, they will have one extra rating - blocking. That threw me off at first when I was quickly copying and realized I had an extra value. Just skip that field for non Catchers.

Orioles are done, for now. I've decided to only put in players rated above 70 overall until OSFM comes out because I don't want to spend the time figuring out who is fictional and who is real.

Once OSFM comes out I'll know everyone needs to go in.

I may be on a different page then what you are looking to do, but have you looked at the ZiP ratings spreadsheet posted on the first page of the OSFM Thread? I just tested those ratings and with the exception of a few minor blips (which we are fixing right now) they run accurate in the game. Might save you the time.

That said your document is pretty cool

                        Willard --
I see the spreadsheet - but where do those ratings come from? They are not the ones in game. If I want to run an online franchse, the ratings that will be in game are the default SCEA ones. Not these, right? So unless I overwrite every players ratings with these from the Zips spreadsheet, it wont be useful as I track year to year changes.

Now, if these were the ratings that will appear on the OSFM file, than yes-- it will save a ton of time. But from my understanding, OSFM does not touch SCEA ratings.
Please correct me if my thinking is errant.

I may be mistaken but I remember reading in a thread on here that in online franchise you can use customized rosters. I would guess that would allow you to have different ratings than the ones used in the default rosters.

Right, that is true. But my question is whether these Zips ratings are going to be the ones for the pre-existing players in the OSFM roster. Because thats the roster file I'll be using.

If the ratings are changed in the roster you are using then you will get the ratings that come with that roster set. For example, if the hybrid team changes their ratings based on the zips projections then you will get those ratings but if you are using the regular OSFM rosters then you will get the SCEA ratings for the players that they have created.
