Classic pitching? Sliders?

I am fairly new to the show and have been messing with the sliders a lot to get realistic gameplay. However I believe that classic pitching is the way to go and apparently there are a lot of people who would agree with me. The only problem is that I can't seem to find sliders that work well. Does anyone have any that work well with classic?

Also I people think they are good at classic pitching maybe they could teach me a little bit.

I've been using human control @ 2 and consistency @ 8 with classic pitching. It works for me, as I get a nice mix of accurate pitches, near misses (for balls, not always meatballs), some hangers, and the rare "what was that?" wild ones. I usually walk 3-4 guys per game and it can be a challenge with poor control pitchers (as it should be).

Default pitching sliders with classic work great.

I'm using control at 6 and consistency at 8. You really need to up consistency to control wild pitches and hit batters.

I haven't thrown a wild pitch or hit a batter since moving to default, the CPU has hit me twice, and thrown 1 wild pitch in 2 games.
There have been pitches in the dirt from me, but nothing past the catcher yet.

Thanks for the replies guys but I still have one question about classic pitching. I know when pitching you can either hold it down or just tap it. What are the differences between those and which one do you do? (hold or tap)?

I think there will always be a few clicks here & there to account for user input and perception differences, but it appears lowering control and raising consistency is a popular route for classic pitchers. Who knows, I might have to get closer to your numbers Paris in time... of course just when I think I'm too good for the AI, they always put me in my place.

For everything or just pitching related? I play on All-Star for both, HUM & CPU hitting @ 4/5/6 with fouls maxed (lots of Ks for both sides on lower settings for me). My control/consistency is @ 2/8 as I said before. Solid hits at zero like most suggest. Still trying to find the right balance for CPU pitching. Most of my global stuff is right around default, aside from fielding @ 1/10.

To be honest, I'm reluctant to post everything, as the guys who posted their sliders have WAY more time with the game than I do. I'd rather not post something I'm not sure about, if you can understand.

EDIT: Oops, reversed power & timing so I corrected it. Still, I don't have oodles of data to go off of, so in no way am I trying to promote my sliders as anything other than crap. That's actually what my slider save is named...

Yeah that was what I was looking for thanks. However, I gave up on classic pitching today. I couldn't deal with the pitches going everywhere.

Before you give up, try veteran pitching, with the user control at 6 and consistency at 8. You might have to raise the CPU's contact and timing sliders if you were on a higher pitching difficulty before though.

I also play with NO pitching ball marker, vibration, strike zones, any of that crap. Only the marker that shows the balls landing spot in the field.

Classic pitching on All Star is a struggle to me. Might have to put pitching at Veteran level. Giving up way too many HR's.

i've only noticed this at allstar pitching, using classic pitching and 3 ball counts.

it happens throughout the game regardless if your pitcher is dominating (given up zero runs, zero walks, etc).

if your pitcher goes into a 3 ball count, then i point the pitch to be a strike, but not a meatball mind you...

then i let the pitch go, the pitch can wave all the way back into a meatball pitch that the cpu will either foul, or can hop on for a line out, etc... or a actual hit/homerun etc.

or the pitch can wave all the way out of the strike zone, and it's ball four.
for ex. i set up for a high and tight fastball, and oh, waaay too high is the result. or a slider on the outside corner, and it suddenly waves right into the wheelhouse, lol, or waves all the way to the lefthanded batters box.

so basically on a 3 ball count w/ classic pitching it seems to me quite often enough to feel like it's not realistic as can be... that your attempt to paint a corner for a strike cannot work out to your advantage. even when you're using a pitch that your pitcher has nice confidence on. i dont even think a pitcher w/ high pitch clutch attribute is immune from this.

when it's not a 3 ball count for you, you can more readily paint the corner you want. it's like the game punishes you for getting into a 3ball count to turn up the heat in the game.

i'm going to try veteran level pitching, or in a 2 ball count, just throw it right down the middle to avoid 3ball counts.
