Lets Talk Sliders out the box
OK I have been playing the show for a long time. I have been thru slider craze only to find myself back near default on most versions every year. I currently play on Legend hitting and I use classic pitching HOF. The one thing I have noticed in every version is I always end up with power for both user and cpu reduced at least one or two clicks. Thoughts? I always want to play the show out the box cuz its so close to perfection but I still feel like Im in the steroid era when I play.Tags: None -

Re: Lets Talk Sliders out the box
I don't usually go for fences and don't usually play with players with a lot of pop, but at least in 11 my experience was that the HR power was quite high at default...
Not sure if it's true, but since people love HRs, I wouldn't be surprised if the game is tuned to produce a tad more power at default. -

Re: Lets Talk Sliders out the box
These are the sliders I have adjusted the past 2 years (all from default, or 5)
HUM/CPU Power -1
HUM/CPU Reliever Stamina -3
CPU Pitch Consistency -1
CPU Strike Frequency -2
Pitch Speed -3 (this may change this year with the default speed being a slight bit slower)
Fielder Run Speed -2 (also may change due to programming adjustments)
Everything else stays at default and I get a great variety of results. It makes playing the game that much more enjoyable knowing that I don't have to worry about adjusting sliders after every game ... or inning.Currently Playing:

I agree you have to be careful adjusting this game in any aspect cuz its great at default. I just want to make sure there isn't too much power so I always end up reducing it one or two notches. These are the sliders I have adjusted the past 2 years (all from default, or 5)

Re: Lets Talk Sliders out the box
i usually hang around these forums, see what is the consensus, e.g. things like reliever stamina and pitch/strike consistency are suaully things that need to be adjusted to make the game feel more dynamic and realistic.
however with SCEA at the helm, you should never just go in and make changes on a new game without time and a flurry of similar opinions.Comment

Re: Lets Talk Sliders out the box
I love this game, but the only thing that frustrates me is how many games it takes before I feel that I have the sliders adjusted to where I feel I'm getting realistic results to finally start my season. Most of the sliders are either at default or -1 or +1 from default, but they still need adjusting. The only sliders I have that are not at default or 1 notch over or under are:
reliever stamina - 2 (5 being default)
strike frequency - 3
fielding errors - 9
fielder run speed - 2
fielder reaction - 7
I have injuries and pitch speed at 3, but that is user preference
So my question is: when 2012 comes out are you going to start playing with default sliders or are you going to use the same slider set you used in 2011 to see if they work for 2012? I'm trying to cut down the time it takes to finalize slider adjustments. ThanksComment

Re: Lets Talk Sliders out the box
I've made just a few minor edits so far. AS hitting and pitching. I "may" be going to HOF pitching as I'm getting better with pulse pitching.
As far as power default seem fine so far IMO. Will obviously need more games played though.
My main thing right now is making sure I throw walks.Joshua:

Thats always been my main problem, I never walk enough batters. In real life this would be great lol but I go for realism, and realistically, walks happen.I've made just a few minor edits so far. AS hitting and pitching. I "may" be going to HOF pitching as I'm getting better with pulse pitching.

cool keep us updated on your early power observations if you can sky im really curious if they tuned it down or left it a little poppy for the home run loving casual fans.I've made just a few minor edits so far. Re: Lets Talk Sliders out the box
Here are my sliders that I used for MLB 11:The Show. They play very fair and a good, balanced game of baseball. I do have one question that maybe Authentic can answer: Is it correct that Veteran is easier this year? I thought I heard Russell say this somewhere. I have no pride when it comes to playing on a lower level and I think anyone would wholeheartedly and thoroughly enjoy these sliders. I suggest Solid hits for Hum(Human) and Cpu(Computer) to be set at 2. You will still see the correct amount of XBH(extra-base-hits). The Sliders are listed below:
The slider scale is 1-10. All the way to the left is 0. Middle is 5. All the way to the right is 10. These are sliders to use while you play the game. I think that when you sim a game or games, the only sliders that influence the outcome of the game or game(s) is Starter and Reliever Sta., and Manager Hook and Injury.
Sliders for Human (Human Hitting is All Star and Human Pitching is Veteran)
Contact - 4
Power - 6
Timing - 5
Fouls - 4
Solid Hits - 2
Starter Sta. - 5
Reliever Sta. - 3
Pitch Ctrl. - 2 (I only use Classic Pitching.)
Pitcher Const. - 8
Sliders for CPU
Same as you see above for Human from Contact thru Reliever Sta.
Pitcher Ctrl. - 5
Pitcher Const. - 6
Strike Freq. - 1
Manager Hook - 1 (When playing a game, I actually make the appropriate Bullpen moves for the CPU when necessary. Keeping the slider at 1 will generally prevent the CPU from making unnecessary Bullpen moves.)
Global Sliders for Human and CPU
Pitch Speed - 1
Fielding Errors - 10
Throwing Errors - 7
Fielder Speed - 1 (This may have to be 3 in 2012 because they already lowered the default speed of fielders.)
Fielder Reaction - 7 (This may have to be 9 in 2012 because this was also lowered in 12.)
Fielder Arm Strength - 4
Baserunner Spd. - 5
Baserunner Steal Abi. - 3 (This was a great setting in 11.)
Baserunner Steal Freq. - 9 (This was also great in 11.)
Injuries - 8 (When I both played a game and simmed CPU games, 8 is a wonderful slider setting. If you want the correct amount of Injuries, 9 is probably more exact, but, 8 is also very realistic.)
Wind - 3 (This is because the Wind was overly powerful in 11.)
Hope you like the Sliders and I appreciate any Feedback and Help in regards to Veteran level being easier in 12. These will likely be the Sliders I use for 12. Thanks

Re: Lets Talk Sliders out the box
I'll probably be going with AS for hitting and HOF for pitching and fielding.
For the guy who posted his MLB 11 sliders, throw them out. This years game is so different it's no use to try sliders from past games. I'm not even seeing many spots I want to adjust. I am struggling to hit but that's just because I haven't played the game in a long time. Pitching has been fun and very realistic. I'm seeing errors and all that good stuff.Comment

Re: Lets Talk Sliders out the box
Thanks for your input. I do have a question - Do you feel that Solid Hits at 2 or 3 is too low for this years game? Are you seeing a realistic amount of Fielding/Throwing Errors with those sliders set at Default(5)? I appreciate your help and time responding to my post.I'll probably be going with AS for hitting and HOF for pitching and fielding.
